Falling in Reverse have just announced a brand new album after seven years, but many will not be listening after lead singer Ronnie Radke made some controversial statements on social media last year.

Falling in Reverse is a pretty well known emo/metalcore/rock band that has seen massive success despite numerous controversies revolving around lead singer Ronnie Radke. The group initially formed in 2008 while Radke was behind bars for his involvement in a fatal shooting from 2006. This was actually the second successful band that Radke had helped create, the first being Escape the Fate. 

Ronnie Radke and the word “controversy” go hand in hand; the man has been arrested on numerous occasions for some pretty heavy stuff. In one instance, he was charged for a misdemeanor after his girlfriend accused him of striking her; in another instance he was charged with assault when he threw a microphone stand off-stage, hitting a member of the crowd at a show. There was also the time he was accused of sexual assault, although there was no evidence to support the claim, and Radke filed a defamation lawsuit shortly thereafter.

Ronnie Radke’s recent controversy

One could argue that Radke has done his time for most of his transgressions, and that it’s all in the past, and some fans actually do argue that, but he has proven himself to be a pretty polarizing figure on numerous occasions since to say the least. His actions from last year when he went full on J.K. Rowling with an anti-trans rant on social media are still fresh in a lot of peoples’ memories, even if his earlier controversies have been forgotten.

Back in July 2023, Radke expressed his views on gender identity and trans issues, which ultimately led to him being banned from TikTok. According to an article from Loudwire, he then took his rant over to X (formerly Twitter) to continue spouting his archaic beliefs.

The same people that call me a womanizer, abuser, and bigot are the same people that support the ideology that trans can have periods and support tampon companies making trans the spokesperson. It’s extremely offensive to all women, to mock their biology. stop pretending this is okay.

The whole idea that this is coming from Radke’s desire to “defend women” doesn’t really fly when you remember the accusations and his actions against women in the past. He’d honestly be better of just admitting he’s a bigot instead of hiding behind that lame excuse.

Anyways, Radke argued with fans for a while afterwards, although eventually the whole thing seemed to die out on its own, with the singer speculating he’d been shadowbanned on X as well. Of course, there’s been no apology from him yet, and he doesn’t really seem like the type to admit when he’s wrong, so there probably never will be.

Tiffany Haddish mentioned the nationwide campus protests over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza in her Netflix Is a Joke standup set in Los Angeles, and the response to what she said is just the latest controversy to face the comedian.

Haddish’s comments went viral online, and in them, she said, in part,

There’s not genocide at the college. I give a f**** about what’s going on, on the other side of the world, but why would I give a f**** about the college? … This the s*** I’m talking about, stupid motherf***ers at the college. Ain’t never worked a goddamn day in your life.”

Haddish later clarified her position, speaking with TMZ in New York. ” … If you want to protest? Protest. But if you really want to be effective and make change, go up to the legislation office, go up to your Senator, call your council. Go to Congress. [Go to the people] who make change … it would be way more effective,” she said, in part.

Before her divisive Netflix bit, the comedian also courted controversy when she visited Israel after the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks inside the country, telling TMZ in a video,

I can’t believe everything that I read. I need to go see for myself. I want to talk to the actual people that’s here, the people that actually experienced the situation that happened on the 7th.”

Tiffany Haddish also mentioned her trip to Israel in her Netflix is a Joke appearance. “Palestinians was there and they was telling me what it was like over there in Gaza and they was telling me how hard it is to be from there, and I was like, ‘Damn, you describing South Central L.A. on 10, b****,’” she said, in part.

“It was crazy, and I’m very upset about the whole thing. I want there to be peace. We deserve peace; they deserve peace. Peace! And us over here causing turmoil over here don’t create peace. You know what creates peace? Take your a**over there,” Haddish added.

Tiffany Haddish’s 2022 child sex abuse civil suit

Haddish’s controversial Israel-Hamas war comments came roughly two years after she and comedian Aries Spears were named in a civil suit alleging child sex abuse. According to the suit, Haddish and Spears groomed two minors who were 7 and 14 years old at the time to simulate sex acts and appear in a sexually suggestive video posted on the Funny or Die website, according to NPR. The video was taken down, the website said.

Haddish later said she regretted appearing in the skit, and though it was intended ” … to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all.” The plaintiffs in the case later dropped the suit. Trizah Morris, their mother and Haddish’s longtime friend, sued the comedian for defamation after Haddish suggested the civil suit was an extortion attempt. As of Feb. 2024, the defamation suit was in arbitration, according to The Root.

Other Haddish controversies

Other high-profile controversies have followed the Girls Trip actress over the years. Among them, in 2023, she shared a post on X seemingly in support of actor Jonathan Majors, who was later convicted of reckless assault and harassment.

“Tiffany Haddish is a mess. Let’s not forget she and her friends bullied a Black woman doctor into a suicide attempt because she was trying to give them factual information about COVID.”

Weeks before the Netflix is a Joke appearance, Haddish had opened up about her Jewish heritage in a Marc Maron WTF podcast interview. Israel has said Hamas killed approximately 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7. Since then, Israeli forces have killed an estimated 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza, many of whom are civilians, in what Israeli officials call a war against Hamas. Israel’s offensive in Gaza has been described as an attempted genocide by some outside observers.

South Dakota Republican Kristi Noem has a few impressive accomplishments decorating her resume, but most people know her for one thing and one thing only.

That was revealed by Noem herself in her freshly-released book, No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward. The mouthful of a book released on May 7, 2024, but in late April, clips from the book circulated and led to widespread criticism of the 52-year-old mother of three.

Who is Kristi Noem, the one-time top pick for Donald Trump’s VP?

Up until her book’s pre-release tanked her reputation, Noem had an excellent shot at being Vice President of the United States. She was reportedly among Donald Trump’s top four picks for his running mate, but all of that changed when early excerpts of No Going Back hit the web.

The excerpts revealed a story contained within the book in which Noem reminisces on a past incident. She details how, some years back, she made the decision to shoot her dog, Cricket, along with a goat, after deciding that they were too temperamental to keep around. The callous nature with which Noem recounted the story was widely criticized, and Noem’s excuses aren’t nearly enough to save her reputation.

Even Trump is taken aback by the story, and reportedly rethinking his decision in the wake of broad pushback. It’s not so much that Noem decided to kill the dog — something that does happen occasionally on farms and ranches — but the almost gleeful way she details the shooting that put people off. Even those familiar with country life found themselves disturbed by her story, and it’s thoroughly tanking the once-popular Republican’s reputation.

Outside of her work shooting animals, Noem is largely known for her contributions to South Dakota government. She’s been serving the state as a Representative since 2007 and eventually became governor in 2019. She’s been serving as the state’s first-ever female governor ever since and almost elevated her career even further by joining Trump on the ballot. It seems that chance has passed her by, however, following revelations contained within her book, and the South Dakota Republican seems to be getting less popular by the day.

Rita Ora‘s look at the 2024 Met Gala was one of the most talked-about, but not for the best reasons.

The singer showed up arm-in-arm with husband Taika Waititi, both dressed in custom Marni. Ora wore an open silhouette gown with long strands of multi-colored beads draped over a skin-tone bodysuit, while the Kiwi director opted for a full-leather chocolate-colored pantsuit. This is their third year attending the high-profile event together.

While Ora gushed about the artistry that went into making the ensemble, which features beads that date back to the first and second centuries BC, collected from Europe and Northern Africa, the internet was, as expected, having a field day pretending they’re the fashion police for an evening. The eccentricity of Ora’s outfit became an easy target.

“Imagine being the people who made those beads. had no idea they were going to be covering Rita Ora’s arse did they. no. none at all [sic],” one X user commented. That does put things into perspective. Like the “You Only Love Me” musician told Vulture, those beads are indeed older than anyone on the planet, considering they’re about 2000 years old.

The outfit was carefully handmade by artisans at Marni, as shared by the brand on its official social media pages, but netizens couldn’t help but notice an inescapable connection with those bead curtains that all our grandmas used to have separating their kitchens from the back garden. Somehow, that’s a universal experience.

Or maybe she was referencing another pop icon.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Ora revealed the antiquity of the beads was a testament to fashion’s ability to stand the test of time. The execution might not have been perfect, but the thought behind the gown was definitely meritorious. Regardless, we’re definitely inspired by her confidence and power.

It’s about time that Ryan Gosling starred in an action comedy. Not that he hasn’t before, but we’re hoping he does it again, and this time with SNL star Mikey Day along for the ride.

Day showed up in support of Gosling at the Fall Guy premiere as part of a stunt (yes, that is a pun), and after Gosling walked the carpet as himself in a mint-green suit, he returned with Day, dressed up as live-action versions of Beavis and Butt-Head.

If you missed out on Gosling’s recent SNL hosting gig, then this likely feels like it’s coming out of left field. On the April 13 broadcast of the show, Gosling and Day dressed up as the characters for a sketch starring Heidi Gardner and Kenan Thompson as a news anchor and a professor specializing in AI, respectively. The two attempted to have a serious discussion about the perils of unregulated AI, but were distracted by Gosling and Day, who were unaware of how much they resembled Beavis and Butt-Head. Trust me, it’s more fun to watch it than to read about it, especially if you love when cast members break character on SNL.

If there was any red carpet on which to dress up as Beavis, the premiere for a comedic film is probably your best bet ⏤ and The Fall Guy, starring Gosling alongside Emily Blunt, looks like a great watch. Gosling stars as Colt Seavers, a professional stunt performer for action films who quits the business after a near-fatal accident. When he finds out his ex-girlfriend (Blunt) is directing her first film, he returns to the field to help save her movie, their relationship, and potentially, the world.

David Lietch, known for films like John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and Hobbs & Shaw, directed the film, and with those other movies under his belt, I’m hopeful that this one cements Gosling as the action star he should be. Not that he needs it; one look at his filmography shows that Gosling has picked his share of great roles over the years. But if there’s any actor who can pull off basically every movie genre known to man, my bet’s on Gosling.

You can watch Gosling in The Fall Guy, playing in theaters May 3. Sadly, I don’t think you’ll see Beavis or Butt-Head ⏤ or anyone who resembles them ⏤ in the film. But if we get our way, both will be headed to the big screen at some point very soon.

It sadly seems to be the way it always goes: there has to be some darkness hiding behind the laughter. That’s definitely true of Saturday Night Live, which has endured its fair share of controversies and scandals over its 50 years on screens.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy to befall an SNL cast-member has to be the shocking murder-suicide which saw a gifted and much-loved comedian and actor lose his life at the peak of his career and comic talents. Even over a quarter-century later, the star in question has never been forgotten and fans are left bereft imagining what else he might have achieved in his career if the awful events of May 28, 1998 never transpired.

Phil Hartman’s death, explained: Why did his wife shoot him and then herself?

The SNL cast-member in question is Phil Hartman. To paraphrase one of his most iconic characters, you may remember him from such roles as Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz on The Simpsons, as well as memorable supporting parts in 1990s family film favorites Jingle All The Way and Small Soldiers.

Hartman is best known in the comedy business, however, for his incredible eight-year stint on SNL, from 1986 to 1994. Hartman was immensely popular with his co-stars, so much so that they nicknamed him “The Glue,” due to his uncanny ability to hold any joke, scene, and the whole show together with his sharp talent and professionalism.

Unfortunately, in his private life, things were much more troubled. His wife, model/actress Brynn Omdahl, with whom he shared two children, suffered from drug and alcohol abuse issues and by the late 1990s their marriage had become strained due to Omdahl’s addictions and Hartman’s busy career keeping him away from home.

On the evening on May 27, Hartman and Omdahl got into a “heated” argument, after which the former went to bed. It’s known that Omdahl had gone out for drinks with a friend that night and had also taken the antidepressent Zoloft and some cocaine. Around 3am that night, Omdahl approached her sleeping husband and shot him three times with a .38 caliber handgun — one in between the eyes, once in the throat, and once in the chest.

Omdahl immediately drove to the house of Ron Douglas, a friend of the couple, and confessed what she had done, but he didn’t believe her until they returned to the Hartmans’ and saw the evidence for himself. The police were called, but while Douglas and the officers were escorting the Hartmans’ two young children — aged 6 and 9 — from the premises, Omdahl retreated into a bathroom and shot herself.

Many who knew the Hartmans were naturally shocked by the tragic turn of events. The woman Omdahl had been for drinks with that night even noted how she had been “in a good frame of mind” just hours prior. Those who had witnessed the couple together behind closed doors, however, spoke to how Omdahl had trouble controlling her temper. She once threatened to kill Hartman’s two ex-wives and, as Hartman’s lawyer told the LA Times in 1998, “Phil said he had to… restrain her at times.”

In a piece titled “The Man of a Thousand Voices,” published in the wake of his untimely death, Entertainment Weekly‘s Dan Snierson noted Hartman was “the last person you’d expect to read about in lurid headlines in your morning paper … a decidedly regular guy, beloved by everyone he worked with.”

The Simpsons immediately retired Hartman’s characters and has never recast them in the years since. SNL, meanwhile, aired a commemorative episode celebrating his countless contributions to the show on June 13, 1998. In 2014, Hartman was posthumously awarded a well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Every year, we couch stylists like to sit in our pajamas and judge celebrities for their Met Gala looks, and every year there is one person that never lets us down — Blake Lively.

The actress, however, was missing from the luxurious cream-and-blue carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6, and her absence was dearly felt. After a collection of unforgettable looks, Lively skipped the gala for a second year in a row, and the internet was distraught.

“The met gala can’t be over yet cause where’s blake lively [sic],” one X user protested as the night of fashion drew to a close with no sign of the Gossip Girl alum.

Fans were hoping the queen of the Met Gala would make a last-minute appearance to save the evening after a few disappointing looks from other attendees.

While we did miss Lively and her unmatchable taste and creativity at this year’s Met Gala, we can hardly blame her for skipping when she’s got her hands full with work and four children, including a baby who’s barely a year old.

The 36-year-old is making her big return to the silver screen this year after a four-year break with the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s viral novel It Ends with Us. She’ll be sharing the screen with Justin Baldoni. The long-anticipated sequel to the 2018 crime comedy A Simple Favor is also in production, which could be a big part of the reason why Lively had to miss a night of which she is usually the main star.

So, we might be experiencing severe Lively deficiency right now, but at least it won’t be for long. It Ends With Us premieres Aug. 9, 2024.

It is now official: The recently-announced cast list for Wednesday season 2 does not include Percy Hynes White. And, it may be the case that no one will fill in the role, thus writing off the character of Xavier Thrope from the series despite the character’s part in the narrative suggesting Xavier had more story to explore.

If the allegations against White are true – and there are plenty –  his removal from the cast cannot be helped. Take it from me, I was personally quite taken by Xavier’s psychic, reserved, and tortured artist character archetype, more so than with the clearly too-nice-not-to-raise-red-flags Tyler, but that’s no excuse to instinctively discredit any potential veracity of White’s alleged condemnable past deeds without daring to dig deeper.

These sorts of allegations are not to be taken lightly, and while the original posts from the alleged victims and witnesses are now gone, it may well have been due to legal reasons or threats from overzealous fans who cannot seem to help but take the side of the celebrity they like, even without knowing them personally to be able to legitimately vouch for their character.

So, what were these accusations that led to Netflix dropping the 22-year-old Canadian actor from the popular series?

Alleged systematic predatory behavior

A girl going by “Aries” as her Twitter username was the one to blow the whistle on the alleged inexcusable behavior Percy Hynes White enacted during high school. Message screenshots paint an elaborate, detailed, and damning description of the kind of predatory, misogynistic behavior of which the actor is accused. Not only that, but Aries also attached message chats featuring inappropriate photos of someone who clearly looks like White. Some of these were allegedly sent to minors.

The allegations claim that, while he was a teenager in Toronto, White mistreated girls, both girlfriends and the girls who rejected him, being said to resort to insults and body shaming. He and his group of friends are accused of hosting parties and getting girls so inebriated they were unable to consent to sexual advances, having been ultimately assaulted. One girl alleged the to-be actor watched her assault from the sidelines. When this situation happened, White called the girl in question and was allegedly more concerned with not having law enforcement involved. If this situation could not get any worse, White is also said to have taken non-consensual sexual pictures of girls, and even shared them online.

Instagram screenshots seem to suggest White seemingly corroborating at least part of the allegations by conceding that what he had done was “a complete scumbag thing to do,” claiming that now that he is an adult, he knows better. Some people pointed to a video of White touching Jenna Ortega’s chest during a red carpet appearance to argue that his behavior had not really changed by the time he became a star on the Netflix series.

On top of all of these damning accusations, old tweets are said to have surfaced – these are now gone – of White using slurs and other inappropriate words.

As a result of this firestorm of allegations and people coming forward, and after a period of silence, White came forward to say the rumors were untrue. Variety quoted him as writing:

“Earlier this year, somebody I’ve never met started a campaign of misinformation about me online. Because of this, my family has been doxxed, and my friends have received death threats. Underage photos of me were used, and examples of me acting in character were presented as hateful. My friend Jane was falsely portrayed as a victim, and her attempts to set the record straight have been ignored. She gave me permission to include her in this message. […] The rumors are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims. It’s very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people. I’m really thankful for everyone who’s stood by me and helped share the facts. Harassment of my family, friends and coworkers needs to stop please. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”

In this kind of he-said/she-said conundrum, there is often no easy way to get tangible evidence that will satisfy some. But for those who think so in regards to the former Wednesday actor, this is not even a she-said/he-said, in this case, many people pointed the finger and Percy Hynes White replied saying it was nothing but a “campaign of misinformation.”

Netflix’s mega-hit Wednesday survived the streamer’s cancelation spree in 2023 and got the green light for a second season. But the future was not bright for its characters, especially for Percy Hynes White, whose sudden fame in 2022 was steamrolled by what 2023 bought in just as the year took off.

It all started early in January 2023, when shocking allegations of sexual assault and other accusations cropped up against White. At the time — i.e., throughout 2023 — Netflix kept mum, refusing to confirm if the alarming claims have cost the actor his role as Xavier Thorpe in the hit series. But now that the series has officially begun shooting, the streamer has shared its big list of returning and new actors for the show.

What are the allegations against Percy Hynes White?

The said allegations, made by multiple women including @milkievich who shared them on Twitter, reveal some very disturbing details about incidents initiated by and involving White when he was a high schooler in Toronto as well as the ones that took place when he was between the ages of 17 and 20.

One of the allegations made in this thread claimed that White and his group of friends are “predators” and “manipulate girls.” They allegedly threw parties only to “explicitly invite women they thought were hot so they could get them drunk and high enough to have sex with them.” White has also been accused of assaulting multiple women, calling them names, sharing their nude pictures online without consent, and targeting minors.

Many other women have also accused the Wednesday star of sexually assaulting them and even aiding a rapist. 

The thread also claims that a deleted account by the name of @impercenator was actually White’s page on Twitter via which he made a string of problematic tweets. 

A video of White uttering a racial slur also cropped up, further flaming the #cancelpercy campaign on Twitter.

While White didn’t respond to the accusations immediately, only disabling the comments on his Instagram page in the wake of the controversy, he did address the allegations in June 2023 and called it a “campaign of misinformation.”

“The rumors are false. I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.”

But his six-month-long delay in answering the allegations did little to undo the damage as even when no fresh claims against the actor cropped up, the glaring accusations left Wednesday fans scrambling to find the answer to one big question… which has finally been answered.

Will Percy Hynes White’s Xavier Thorpe return in Wednesday season 2?

Netflix has revealed its cast members for the second season of Wednesday and Percy Hynes White is not on it. So, it is official — there will be no Xavier Thorpe the next time we see Wednesday at Nevermore, a certain long-haired individual who was upped to the status of being her next love interest (after her first love turned out to be a fictional monster) will no longer be present.

Of course, Jenna Ortega is returning — she even dropped Scream 7 for the series— and so are Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, and many more. But clearly, as much as Netflix tried to act all nonchalant about the whole controversy, all the while decisions were being made so as to not jeopardize their show’s reputation.

It’s not like White’s supporters and fans didn’t try to stop the inevitable. Between the actor’s supporters filing a petition to ensure he doesn’t lose his projects because of the allegations and his fans ready to strike an argument with those demanding his instant removal from the show, White had a number of voices in his corner. But as 2023 progressed, ignoring whether or not he will still have a future with Netflix became harder.

Going by the explosive can of worms the original accusations kicked open and considering the fate of celebs who have faced similar allegations, guessing his most probable fate wasn’t difficult. The past few years have been eye-opening when it comes to the seemingly glittery world of celebs. Many had their problematic past and toxic attitudes out in the open for the world to see and found themselves reaping the seeds they sowed. 

Kevin Spacey lost out on almost all his roles after sexual allegations against him came to light in 2017. Danny Masterson, who has been facing multiple allegations of sexual assault, was fired by Netflix from The Ranch. Last we heard about Armie Hammer — after he lost all prospective projects as stomach-churning allegations against him surfaced — he was seen selling timeshare in the Cayman Islands. The latest example would be Jonathan Majors, who was swiftly removed from the MCU after he was found guilty of assaulting his girlfriend.

Of course, fans of the series already have a list of names that can replace the actor, but that part of the debate will only gain proper steam once Netflix decides to share exactly what it plans to do with the character of Xavier Thorpe.

The most awaited fashion night of the year has come and gone, with the usual suspects topping everyone’s favorite lists — yes, we’re talking about Zendaya. At the same time, the MET Gala featured more K-Pop attendees than ever before — with Stray Kids comprising 8/9ths of this shortlist.

Unfortunately, their attendance was met with a lackluster response from fashion fans who were understandably critical of anyone who refused to adhere to this year’s MET Gala theme — “Garden of Time.” Aside from the boys following their own theme — and looking absolutely handsome regardless — there was an unfortunate moment that sadly followed their Met Gala debut, and here’s what happened.

What happened at the Met Gala with Stray Kids?

While Stray Kids’ Met Gala debut received mixed responses, the K-Pop boy group was subjected to several rude and blatantly xenophobic remarks by the paparazzi on the scene. As the members walked down the red carpet, a video captured by one of the photographers revealed several inappropriate comments made by many of the paparazzi photographing celebrities.

Comments such as “They’re robots” and “I’ve never seen so many unemotional faces in my life” were heard throughout the shocking video. The photographers not only criticized Stray Kids’ poses — which were essentially mirroring the low-key attitudes of many male attendees — but also questioned their ability to understand English, despite two of the members being Australian-born.

In the video, you can also faintly hear several attempts from photographers to speak in Korean, saying things like “annyeonghaseyo,” which means “hello,” as if the members wouldn’t understand English. Moreover, someone says, “I don’t know if you get it,” after instructing them on how to pose. Unfortunately, this is the type of treatment South Korean celebrities are accustomed to facing in the West, and while the members did not react to such impertinent remarks, they surely heard them.

Over the years, several K-pop idols have spoken about mistreatment while attending events in the West. Notably, BTS has been outspoken about facing racist and xenophobic comments while attending red carpets, leading them to become increasingly apprehensive about visiting the country for public events. “Since we’re aliens to the music industry in America, we don’t know if there’s a place for us or not,” the band said in a 2020 interview with Reuters.

Sadly, as South Korean idols participate in more public events in the U.S., they increasingly become targets for infantilization, racism, and xenophobic comments. With Stray Kids leading the Fourth Generation movement in K-Pop, they are undeniably the ones in the public eye and the easiest targets for criticism. Hopefully, those responsible for these comments will be held accountable for their words.

Princess Anne has a hard-won reputation as the “no fuss” Royal that gets things done. With Charles and Kate undergoing cancer treatment, she’s stepped up to ensure the Royal ship maintains speed, taking on duties that the rest of her family can’t do.

But just because she’s got her head more firmly screwed on than her wayward relations doesn’t mean Anne’s life has been free of controversy. In fact, uniquely amongst the Royals, she’s the only member to have a bona fide criminal conviction.

So, strap yourself into the ‘Worst Royals‘ hot seat Anne, as we go through the most morally questionable and controversial moments across your 73 years.

1. In weird love quadrangle with her brother

Unpicking which Royal was sleeping with who in the 1960s and 70s is very tricky, but at one point there was a strange love quadrangle between Charles, Camilla, Anne, and Andrew Parker Bowles. Charles and Camilla were an item, as were Anne and Andrew, though soon Camilla and Andrew would hook up.

It’s unclear whether there was any overlap, though Anne apparently couldn’t have considered Andrew a serious romantic prospect because he was Catholic and couldn’t marry into the Royal family. Whatever the case, there was no bad blood and all four remain friends to this day.

It’s perhaps a bit weird for both a sister and brother to be romantically entangled with the same couple, but as far as we can see nobody got hurt.

2. Had an affair with her bodyguard

1979 Detective Sergeant Peter Cross was assigned to Royal Protection detail and became Princess Anne’s bodyguard, working closely alongside her every day. A little too closely, as it turned out.

Though both were married at the time Anne and Peter quickly developed the hots for one another and began a secret relationship. As you’d expect, getting freaky with your security is frowned upon both by the Royal family and Scotland Yard.

Former Royal reporter James Whittaker said Scotland Yard “freaked out” when they realized what was happening and immediately removed him from duty. Undaunted, the two kept at it, with the relationship only ending when The Sun exposed the story. I feel bad for Peter Cross’ wife being dragged into this. Not cool, Anne.

3. Mean to her fans

Anne has a reputation for no-nonsense responses to questions, but occasionally this can tip over into being outright nasty. This fate befell poor Iris Halfpenny, who waited patiently outside a church on Christmas Day to hand her some flowers.

Iris smiled and handed them to the Princess Royal, proudly saying she’d arranged them herself. Anne took one glance and coldly informed Iris that this was a “ridiculous thing to do” and stalked away. As revealed by Mary Relph in the documentary The Real Princess Anne, Iris was shattered by Anne’s mean response:

That was a very sore point with Iris. She didn’t come for many weeks after that. I think she was quite a bit upset over it, you know, but she didn’t come.”

Is it so hard to accept some flowers, smile, and say “thank you”? We don’t think so and we’re sure this wasn’t an isolated incident.

4. Long history of dangerous driving

Being a member of the Royal family means you can get away with a lot of stuff, but it seems motoring offenses aren’t one of them. Anne has been pulled up by the cops for speeding on multiple occasions throughout her life.

In the 1970s she was caught speeding down the M1 motorway. Another incident occurred in 1990, with Anne receiving a month’s ban from driving and a £100 fine. The punishment clearly didn’t have an effect, as in 2000 she was caught doing it once again and fined £400.

We don’t know how fast she was going or how dangerously she was driving, but being late for a fancy party is no excuse for risking peoples’ lives by driving dangerously.

5. Obsessed with silly rules

The rules of etiquette surrounding the Royal family are as ridiculous as they are complicated. Regular folks like you and I are expected to grovel at their feet like feudal serfs, but even those on the inside must adhere to a careful system of bows, curtseys, rigid forms of address and byzantine social rules.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have fallen foul of these rules, but Princess Anne is incredibly strict about them. As an “insider” told The Daily Express:

“She can turn from laughing and joking one minute to being an absolute stickler for the rules the next. She’s extremely dutiful and would hate to be regarded as being on the wrong side of protocol.”

Doesn’t sound like much fun to be around. Then again, what even is a monarchy without dumb rules with no basis in reality? Who knows, maybe if you get rid of the mandatory bum-licking the magic of the Royals goes with it?

6. Had a “hot mic” moment

Anne doesn’t really tolerate fools, but her obsession with protocol probably means her true opinions on people remain secret. But that was blown right through after she had an embarrassing hot mic moment during a meeting of the Olympic Committee.

One of her fellow members had just finished speaking but Anne had forgotten to mute her mic and everyone heard her say “I think this person is probably the most stupid person in world sport”. Her words “echoed about the room” and Anne froze. Fortunately for her everyone just had to pretend nothing had happened, though we imagine she was mortified.

On the grand scale of things, this is no big deal morally, but it’s certainly embarrassing.

7. Criminal conviction after her dog attacked children

Somewhat ironically given her straight-laced reputation, Anne is the first and (so far) only member of the Royal family to have a legit criminal conviction to her name. In 2002 Anne was walking her English bull terrier Dotty in Windsor Great Park. They encountered two boys aged 12 and 7 enjoying the park and Dotty, who was not on a leash, viciously attacked them.

This was, by all accounts, a fairly serious incident. One child received bites on his collarbone and left leg and the other suffered scratch marks across their body. The boys were rushed to hospital in a “traumatized state”. Anne pled guilty and, in court, the judge said:

I have to add that these children did suffer considerably from this experience… it was a very, very unfortunate episode.”

Anne was fined £1148.00, but Dotty escaped being put down. The boys’ families didn’t feel that justice was done, saying the punishment was “neither moral nor just” and that:

“We do not think justice has been done. The dog is still free and is a danger to society.”

As a sad postscript, another of Anne’s bull terriers went berserk and ripped apart one of the Queen’s corgis during Christmas 2003. Maybe keep your killer dogs on a leash, Anne.

8. Is a “sourpuss”

On top of all the above Anne just has a reputation for being a bit grumpy and cold. This famously put her at odds with the more outwardly emotional and expressive Diana. The media contrasted Diana’s willingness to hug people in hospitals with Anne’s obvious reticence, with her at one point dismissing calls to hug an injured child as a publicity stunt.

Maybe she has a point. But this arguably spilled over into meanness when she was asked about the birth of Prince William and replied, in a flat tone, “I didn’t know [Diana] had one. Oh, good.” She was later asked for her thoughts and said there’s “too much fuss” about new babies. This got her dubbed a “sourpuss”.

Then again, Anne appears to be more about deeds than words and spends a lot of time engaged in charitable works. So while she doesn’t sound much fun to hang out with, at least she’s using her time productively.

Conclusion

All this gives Princess Anne a rating of 27/30 on the Worst Royals charts. This puts her easily in the top half of the table in our ongoing series, which currently stands at: Kate Middleton on 15/80, Meghan, on 20/80, Anne on 27/30, Harry on 30/80, Camilla on 31/80, William on 33/80, and Charles still way out in front as the worst Royal on 45/80.

So, all in all not that bad, especially when compared with her far more disreputably Kingly brother. But we suspect that our next and final entry in this series will blow the rest of his family out of the water, as we park Prince “Jeffrey Epstein’s BFF” Andrew’s flabby arse in the hot seat.

With the 2024 presidential election slowly drawing closer as the months breeze by, it’s certainly common knowledge that candidate RFK Jr. is a satisfying choice for those disgruntled voters who don’t want to choose between repeat candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

As intriguing as a vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. might sound to some, others are now gritting their teeth and second-guessing the fresh-faced candidate after a recent endorsement from once-respected actor Kevin Spacey. So perhaps we can now assume that the 64-year-old performer is done acting out his tiresome Frank Underwood persona over on YouTube on Christmas Eve every year.

The aforementioned endorsement quickly turning heads recently occurred over on X, where Spacey regarded RFK Jr. as “a loyal friend” and insisted that Kennedy reached out to check on Spacey when the world had “turned its back” on him amidst sexual assault allegations initially revealed by fellow actor Anthony Rapp. From there, Spacey faced several counts of sexual assault charges in a U.K. trial — although he was later found not guilty.

Despite the not guilty verdict, Spacey remains as a celebrity that a large portion of people detest — which has become more and more apparent after his endorsement for RFK Jr. Following the nod of approval from the American Beauty actor, a handful of users on X have made it a mission to point out how disastrous the endorsement is:

It still remains to be seen if a heap of other celebrities decide to publicly endorse RFK Jr.’s message of a “different” candidate, but an endorsement from Spacey is clearly not that great of a look in the eyes of the public voters.
