The challenge of adapting comics is the number of characters to draw from. The character of Ant-Man features one of these challenges.

For a long time, Hank Pym was the one and only Ant-Man in Marvel comic continuity. He and Janet took on the mantle of the insect-related superheroes and had a fine time doing it. Scott Lang was only added later. While Hank’s (Michael Douglas) contribution to the Ant-Man mythos is acknowledged in the Marvel films, there is no denying that Paul Rudd in the role of Scott is the main draw of the films. His humor and unlikely heroism make him one of the most enjoyable characters in the franchise. But this switcheroo adds fuel to the fire of the questions prevalent in another Marvel entity.

Deadpool & Wolverine unites the Merc With the Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) at last in a multiverse-heavy film. The Deadpool franchise has always pushed the envelope with its content, so it’s anyone’s guess who the man behind the Ant-Man of the film will be.

Who is Ant-Man in Deadpool 3?

The trailer for Deadpool 3 has such sensory overload that there are many blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it moments. Many old-school Marvel villains, such as Pyro (Aaron Stanford) and Azazel (Jason Flemyng), appear in quick flashes in the trailer. But more prevalent is the giant Ant-Man skull being used as a hide-out. The trailer doesn’t indicate the identity of this dead Ant-Man, but as luck would have it, Deadpool 3 released more footage that hinted at the sad demise of our favorite six-legged superhero. A new clip posted on X (formerly Twitter) gives some context to the giant head as Deadpool offers a quippy line of dialogue.

“Huh, Paul Rudd finally aged,” Deadpool comments about the skull. This quick line plays on Rudd’s reputation as an ageless immortal and also has the benefit of revealing which Ant-Man is in question. Despite exploring the multiverse, Deadpool 3 does not appear to use Hank as the prime Ant-Man. Unfortunately for Scott Lang fans, he apparently does not survive in whatever timeline Deadpool is traversing in the ambitious film.

But that doesn’t exactly make Ant-Man dead in the water. At least, not forever. If Logan can return after his definitive death in his titular 2017 film, there is still hope for Rudd’s Ant-Man. Who knows exactly what timeline that skull is from? And after all, the entirety of Deadpool 2 changed after Wade time-traveled to save Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). That’s how that works in the MCU, right? Fans will have to wait to see what rules Deadpool follows and breaks when the film premieres in theaters on July 26.

Don’t tell Hugh Jackman, but Wolverine is far from Deadpool’s only bromantic partner https://wegotthiscovered.com/comicbooks/dont-tell-hugh-jackman-but-wolverine-is-far-from-deadpools-only-bromantic-partner/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/comicbooks/dont-tell-hugh-jackman-but-wolverine-is-far-from-deadpools-only-bromantic-partner/#respond Tue, 23 Apr 2024 19:23:15 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1686903 Who hasn't Deadpool teamed up with at this point?]]>

The cultural phenomenon that is Deadpool & Wolverine is fast approaching and it seems that people can’t quite get enough of the duo. Although, unfortunately for Wolverine, Deadpool is notorious for having multiple bromances on the go at once.

That’s right, Deadpool isn’t known for being the most faithful with his bromantic partners; from Cable to Spider-Man he’s had plenty of iconic team-up stories. In fact, there is a whole line of comics dedicated to Deadpool teaming up with different Marvel characters from heroes to villains, at this point it might be quicker to list the ones he hasn’t had a story with yet.

Maybe, if we’re lucky, and the stars align, we’ll get to see some of those on the silver screen in the future. Who knows! Some of these guys might even have cameos in the upcoming third Deadpool film! But until then, here are some of the Merc with a Mouth’s most memorable bromances from the comics that aren’t Wolverine.

Galactus

Galactus Marvel Comics

Don’t you love it when two unlikely characters end up working together? Right out the gate we’re kicking things off with one of Deadpool’s more cosmic companions: Galactus. Is it a stretch to label this a bromance? Maybe, but it’s a wacky and fun story nonetheless. It all starts with Wade Wilson seeing an ad in the paper for the role of “Herald of Galactus,” as you do, and decides being a planet eater could be pretty sweet. He’s not wrong, and just seeing Deadpool make use of the power cosmic is enough to put this particular team-up on the list.

Bob, Agent of Hydra

Image via Marvel Comics

Bob is just a regular guy— he just wants a stable 9 to 5 job with dental, but unfortunately he could only get a job at Hydra (who don’t even have dental). Regardless, Bob and Deadpool cross paths and he ends up becoming a sort of sidekick to the mercenary. The two get into all kinds of insane adventures, and the dynamic between them works mostly because Bob is just such a normal guy, forcibly thrust into the weirdest situations because of his “friend.”

Hellcow

Image via Marvel Comics

Comics are weird sometimes. The idea of a 300 year-old vampire cow who is mortal enemies with Dracula feels like something only the most demented mind could conjure, and yet, Hellcow, AKA Bessie, exists. At some point in time both Bessie and Wade Wilson end up captured by Dr. Kilgore. The two for a sort of camaraderie and plan an escape. After the escape Deadpool expresses his feelings of deep friendship as Bessie steps into the sunlight and dies. But don’t worry, later on, a time-traveling Wade returns to prevent her death and later down the line Hellcow joins the Deadpool Inc. crew, helping out with a heist. All I’m gonna say is, if the next Deadpool movie isn’t Deadpool & Hellcow, I will riot.

The Deadpool Corps

Deadpool Corps
Image via Marvel Comics

Is multiple variations of the same guy cheating? Well, it’s my list, so I guess what I say goes. The Deadpool Corps are a team of Deadpools from across the multiverse including Dogpool, Ladypool, Headpool, and Kidpool. As a general rule of thumb, more Deadpool is typically a good thing and that rule certainly applies here. The team is brought together to stop The Awareness, a being that existed before the universe and basically goes around collecting the consciousness of planets.

Domino

Image via Marvel Comics

Just like Wade, Domino is a mercenary, and the two are great friends, which already makes this duo more sincere than most of the others on this list. The two even married at one point, although it was all done to infiltrate a marriage convention, and they divorced shortly afterwards. Either way, Domino and Deadpool share a pretty special connection that (aside from the fake marriage) is mostly platonic, which is rare with male and female characters in comics, and is also why I’m counting this as a bromance, (girls can be bros too).

Spider-Man

Image via Marvel Comics

Aside from the fact that their costumes look kind of similar, they don’t really have all that much in common, and that’s exactly why they work so well together. Spidey is morally upstanding and always does what’s right, while Deadpool is amoral at best, but their opposing personalities make for some entertaining moments. Also I lied, they do have something else in common: They’re both known for their hilarious quips.

Cable

Image via Marvel Comics

Was it ever going to be anyone else? Like many of the others on this list, his personality typically clashes with Deadpool’s more often than not, but that’s exactly why they work so well. Out of all the heroes mentioned, Cable is definitely the guy Wade Wilson teams up with the most; they’ve had so many iconic adventures together, with a whole 50-issue series dedicated just to these two. We even got to see the pair team up in live action in Deadpool 2, and it was awesome.

Wolverine has some fierce competition

We’re all excited to see Deadpool & Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman has got to remember, he’s not the only man in Deadpool’s life. Wade Wilson has got to be one of the biggest team players out there, and hopefully the films and comics continue to pair him off with whoever they feel like. Somehow it just always works.

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s official trailer left us more convinced than ever than this film could have more cameos than an Avengers movie — but here’s one familiar face we really didn’t expect to see pop up. Check him out now, it’s just Ken.

It’s true, Ryan Gosling will appear in Deadpool 3 … kinda. Ahead of the trailer’s release, Ryan Reynolds shared a short teaser for it on his Instagram, and it contains one shot that we haven’t seen elsewhere. The moment captures a rare bit of downtime for Wade Wilson, as well as a nod to Reynolds’ fellow Hollywood Ryan. Take a close look at Wade’s shirt and you’ll notice it’s humorlessly patterned with snaps of the Barbie icon.

If you’re wondering about the old-fashioned adult novel Wade is reading, titled The Canadian Mounted, this is a much more deep-cut reference. This is the same book, cover, title, and all, that John Candy’s character is seen reading in classic 1980s movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Director Shawn Levy‘s movies and TV shows are often full of references to ’80s pop culture — see Stranger Things and The Adam Project — so the fact he’s carrying this trope over to DP3, but with a slightly more NSFW flavor, shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Seeing Gosling in any kind of Marvel context, however? Now, that is a surprise.

Could Ryan Gosling ever show up in the MCU for real?

the fall guy
Image via Universal

As hilarious as this visual gag is, it’s only making us hungry to see Gosling in the MCU for real. Whether Kevin Feige has actually reached out to the La La Land star or not remains a mystery, but Gosling has certainly been frequently linked to various Marvel characters over the years — most recently, the role of Sentry in Thunderbolts (that ultimately went to Lewis Pullman).

Once upon a time, Gosling did say he’d love to play the part of Ghost Rider, but it seems this was just an example of the puckish sense of humor that we ended up seeing a lot more of during his Barbie era as his Fall Guy co-star Emily Blunt later admitted that he was just kidding when he said this and he doesn’t really have any ambitions about being our next Johnny Blaze.

Having said all that, in a film that is finding room for everyone from Jennifer Garner’s Elektra to the most obscure X-Men from the Fox era to Taylor Swift (allegedly), we can’t entirely rule out the possibility that Ryan Gosling could make an actual cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. Still, we’re pretty sure his only appearance in the movie will be on Ryan Reynolds’ body. Wait, that’s not how it sounds.

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s second trailer is filled with juicy images for fans to obsess over until July. By breaking down the official trailer, we can understand the story of the upcoming movie and anticipate some cameos and surprises.

Deadpool 3 is by far the most anticipated superhero project of 2024. The movie is the first R-rated MCU project, and thanks to the Deadpool’s (Ryan Reynolds) ability to break the fourth wall, fans expect the project will poke fun at Marvel Studios recent failures. In addition, the movie brings Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine, the iconic X-Men, meaning the Mutants will cross over to the main MCU timeline soon.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, so there’s still a few months of waiting before we can unravel all of the movie’s secrets. Meanwhile, here’s everything we learned from the official trailer.

Deadpool needs Wolverine to save his family

From the Superbowl teaser of Deadpool & Wolverine, we learned that the TVA will visit the Merc with a Mouth in the upcoming movie. Deadpool must cross time and space to save his family, joining forces with Wolverine. The official trailer expands on this concept by showing Deadpool’s arrival at a bar to recruit Logan. As expected, the two heroes will fight (a lot) before they work together, resulting in blood-soaked scenes that make the best of the movie’s R-rating.

The Wolverine variant in the movie has lost everything

The Logan variant that Deadpool recruits seems different from the one Jackman played in Fox’s X-Men film franchise. The trailer reveals this Wolverine is responsible for the destruction of his world. We still don’t know if Logan caused the erasure of an entire timeline or just the X-Men, but the fact that he’s a variant with a dark past will help to give the upcoming movie some high emotional stakes. It’s also interesting that Deadpool’s only hope to save his timeline is a Wolverine that couldn’t protect him, and we can’t wait to see how Deadpool & Wolverine explores this dynamic.

A good chunk of Deadpool & Wolverine takes place in the Void

From what we can gather from the official trailer, a good chunk of Deadpool & Wolverine takes place in the Void, the end of all time, where Variants pruned by the TVA go to be devoured by Alioth. The official trailer gives us new shots of the destroyed Fox logo statue, revealing that the area where Deadpool and Wolverine have their main duel is filled with debris from tall buildings. In the Void, the duo of protagonists will also come across objects and people from different timelines, not unlike Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in his solo TV show.

The movie is filled to the brink with Easter Eggs and cameos

The Deadpool film franchise was always about cameos and clever jokes that use behind-the-scenes self-awareness. The fact that Deadpool & Wolverine deal with the Multiverse only means Marvel Studios can fulfill fans’ wildest dreams by filling the movie with all sorts of Easter Eggs. The official trailer shows cameos of Azazel of X-Men: First Class and Lady Deathstrike from X2. The villain’s headquarters in the Void has also been built inside the decapitated head of a giant-sized Ant-Man. Deadpool and Wolverine will also use Doctor Strange teleportation portals, teasing more MCU characters that will be part of the upcoming movie.

Even the background of some scenes hides some clever nods to Marvel. For instance, the bar “Copper Heads” is named after D-list villains who might appear in Captain America: Brave New World. Plus, the footwear store “Liefield’s Feet Only” jokes about the running joke about Deadpool’s co-creator, Rob Lienfield, being unable to draw some pieces of human anatomy like feet. Finally, the official trailer also has a car chase in the desert that’s an obvious nod to Mad Max: Fury Road. Red Skull’s car from Captain America: The First Avenger also pops into the trailer, which might connect to Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Mad Max moment.

Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova is terrifying

After the Superbowl teaser only gave us a single shot of the back of Emma Corrin’s head, the official Deadpool & Wolverine trailer unveils the villainous Cassandra Nova in her full glory. Cassandra has made a home in the Void, where she rules over several X-Men characters from inside the Ant-Man head. While the trailer doesn’t spoil why Cassandra will get in the way of Deadpool and Wolverine, we see a fighting scene in which the villain uses her psychic powers to control Logan’s body, trapping his claws on the floor. So, while Cassandra looks younger than her comic book counterpart, the character maintains her vast psychic powers in the MCU.

We must also praise how the trailer brings Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) back for a joke about how Kevin Feige forbade Deadpool & Wolverine from depicting cocaine consumption in the movie. It’s a great way to close the official trailer, as it assures fans the movie is pulling no punches, despite being made under the watchful eyes of Disney.

In addition to the official Deadpool & Wolverine trailer revealing new plot details and returning characters galore, it already has fans speculating about surprising inclusions, like the magic portal that appears for a few seconds that the title characters are seen jumping through.

Deadpool & Wolverine is responsible for prominently bringing the Mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which became possible due to Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Furthermore, as the first R-rated MCU project, the movie wants to make history by showing that Marvel heroes can turn a profit while focusing on adult-oriented stories. It’s fair to say that expectations are over the moon, especially since so many recent MCU projects failed to connect with the audience.

We’ve known for a while that Deadpool & Wolverine will journey through the Multiverse to explain how Ryan Reynolds’ fan-favorite iteration of the Merc with a Mouth will join the main MCU continuity. In doing so, the movie will also bring Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine, a character he had retired after 2017’s Logan. However, Jackman is not the only actor crossing the barrier of time and space to relieve a character from non-MCU projects. Among the many cameos the trailers and behind-the-scenes interviews have already teased, there’s Aaron Stanford as Pyro and Jennifer Garner as Elektra. However, the magic portal in the trailer means we’ll likely see Doctor Strange characters in the movie, too.

Why is Doctor Strange’s portal part of Deadpool & Wolverine

The new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has the titular characters fighting against the villainous Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) in a desolate place that nods at several iterations of Marvel characters. Since we can also see Loki’s Alioth in the trailer, the place is most likely the Void, where all unwanted variants go to meet their end. That’s probably why a giant Ant-Man head is used as the evil gal’s headquarters, and X-Men villains such as Toad and Lady Deathstrike will stand in the heroes’ way.

In a particular scene from the trailer, Deadpool and Wolverine jump through a portal identical to the teleportation circles conjured by sorcerers. These portals were first introduced in 2016’s Doctor Strange, but have since become huge assets in the MCU. For instance, the portals allow all the heroes of the MCU to unite on the battlefield against Thanos at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Usually, the portals show clearly what’s on the other side. However, the trailer uses a bright light to hide Deadpool and Wolverine’s destination. That means they can pop up in any significant MCU moment, including Endgame‘s final battle. The presence of the portal also indicates that some variants of Doctor Strange or his allies will be present in the Void. They may be enemies or perhaps help the duo cross timelines and reach safety. Whatever the case, we have one more mystery to solve once the threequel hits theaters.

Deadpool & Wolverine flips the MCU upside down on July 26, 2024.

Do we know the famous actor who screamed at ‘Dune 2’ star Rebecca Ferguson on set? https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/do-we-know-the-famous-actor-who-screamed-at-dune-2-star-rebecca-ferguson-on-set/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/do-we-know-the-famous-actor-who-screamed-at-dune-2-star-rebecca-ferguson-on-set/#respond Thu, 29 Feb 2024 14:09:35 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1666592 It's time we stop letting big name celebrities get away with acting like babies.]]>

We’ve all had to deal with nasty co-workers in the past, but fans of Rebecca Ferguson were surprised to hear her recount an experience with a co-star who screamed at her on set.

Speaking to Josh Smith on the Reign podcast the Dune: Part Two star recalled one particularly traumatic job in which “an absolute idiot of a co-star” yelled and generally acted unprofessional and condescending towards her. “This human being was being so insecure and angry, because this person couldn’t get the scenes out.” Whilst it happened in front of the crew, she says that no one had her back due to the co-star being number one on a call sheet.

During the interview, Ferguson makes sure not to name the individual, but the story does have a happy ending with the actress standing up for herself, “I remember being so scared, and I looked at this person and I said “you can F off. I’m gonna work with a tennis ball.”” Honestly, good for her, whoever this person was, they sound like a real piece of work. Fans of the actress commended her for standing up to the unnamed co-star with fellow actors such as Dwayne Johnson even responding in support.

But many were also angry, not at Rebecca obviously, but at whoever it was that spoke to her like that. People on X (formerly Twitter) jumped to the defense of the star, vowing to get their hands on this rude person one way or another.

Who screamed at Rebecca Ferguson?

Ferguson has made the wise choice not to reveal who she was talking about as doing so could come back to bite her. But fans still want to know, especially because they are clearly very famous, to the point that no one was willing to call them out on their behavior. In all honesty we don’t know for sure who it is, however, there are theories. These theories are based on circumstantial evidence at best so it’s probably best not to draw any hard conclusions from these just yet.

Fans threw a few names out there, such as Hugh Grant, who starred in Florence Foster Jenkins with Ferguson. The evidence against him is that the two have very few photos together from after the film, and in the photos that do exist, they are standing very far apart. There have been a few cases where Grant has been somewhat abrasive and rude to people, even when he knows others are watching, so this theory could hold water. Others suggested it could be Tom Cruise although there’s very little evidence to back that up, she’s worked with Cruise on multiple Mission Impossible movies and is set to appear in the next installment set to be released in 2025.

Interestingly, Dwayne Johnson was suggested by multiple people. The pair worked together on 2014’s Hercules, but they have zero photos or interviews together. If that’s the case then Johnson’s tweet takes on a whole new context, instead of offering support it could just be an attempt to cover up and make himself appear innocent; whilst Johnson’s reputation has gone down a bit recently, I doubt he’s this bad of a person, but hey, anything’s possible in Hollywood.

We could go on all day listing each and every one of Rebecca Ferguson’s famous co-stars, we have Michael Fassbender, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and many more. It’s a real mystery, but knowing the internet, the truth will be revealed eventually.

Ryan Reynolds’ 2016 labor of love had many consequences. For good and for ill.

When Deadpool first premiered, Marvel audiences let out a collective sigh of relief. Not only is it a massive upgrade from the horrendous and cursed portrayal in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but it is a legitimately accomplished film. Wade Wilson (Reynolds) finally gets the film he deserves as The Merc With the Mouth. The origin story depicts his tragic circumstances of developing cancer and doing just about anything to find a cure. Including undergoing an experimental program that activates any latent mutant genes. Thus Deadpool is born in all his glory.

The film is celebrated in Marvel circles but isn’t without its controversy. Silicon Valley comedian, TJ Miller, is a prime character in Deadpool as Wade’s friend, Weasel. His comic timing and ability to further the plot was one of the many aspects of Deadpool that seemed like a slam dunk. In 2017, however, Miller received accusations of sexual misconduct and assault. According to The Daily Beast, an anonymous source recalled incidents of violence during their time together at George Washington University. These circumstances have cast doubt on the actor’s future in Deadpool 3 and the MCU.

Will Weasel return in Deadpool 3?

Reynolds and the production of Deadpool have not spoken definitively about Miller’s return to the franchise, but there is little doubt about Weasel’s role in Deadpool 3. After appearing in Deadpool and its sequel, Miller has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he will not be working with Reynolds again. Speaking on the podcast, The Adam Carolla Show (via The Hollywood Reporter), the actor shed light on where he stood with the franchise’s star. Miller cited personal issues with Reynolds as the reason he would not be returning. He stated he was hurt during the filming of Deadpool 2, when Reynolds ad-libbed a line that seemed too personal. Because of that instance, the relationship suffered, leaving no room for him to return to the franchise.

“I would not have done Deadpool 3 if they came to me and were like, ‘We want you to do Deadpool 3, and we’re going to pay you twice as much.’”

Miller concluded that Reynolds seemed to have a personal issue with the Silicon Valley actor, and he did not want to put himself in that situation. There was no reference to the allegations of assault against Miller, though this isn’t the first time he’s had an issue with a co-star. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Silicon Valley co-star Alice Wetterland Tweeted about Miller’s unprofessionalism on-set. She also referred to the instance where Miller called in a fake bomb threat, which he has since blamed on a manic episode. It seems that without a doubt, there is no point where Weasel will return to the franchise. Even if Deadpool messes around with the time-space continuum again.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are one of Hollywood’s biggest and most beloved “it” couples, proving that they’ve come a long way since starring in 2011’s Green Lantern together. Reynolds’ superhero career has come a long way, too, seeing as he’ll be back for his long-awaited third outing as Wade Wilson in this summer’s superhero blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine. There’s so much hype for it, in fact, that the other power couple Reynolds is a part of took center stage on Valentine’s Day 2024.

Coming just days after the Super Bowl trailer that broke internet records to become the most-viewed trailer on YouTube, Marvel debuted another new Deadpool 3 poster to keep the excitement alive. Apparently, there’s a reason it’s called Deadpool & Wolverine not Deadpool v Wolverine — because it may be a secret rom-com? Given the time travel-y elements, I’m now half-convinced it’s actually a remake of 2001 Hugh Jackman movie Kate & Leopold.

Along with the tagline “Can’t wade for this love story,” Marvel has shared an adorable poster which features Deadpool and Wolverine’s gloved hands forming a heart, with graffiti on the wall behind them reading “D+W.”

Put aside your feelings about how hastily constructed this poster was — the gloves are clearly just the same one recolored and flipped and some folks are fearing that it was actually made using AI — and just bask in the knowledge that a love story for the ages is coming our way this summer. We always knew these two crazy kids would make it work eventually and figured all that social media arguing was just ill-disguised flirting.

On a more serious note, it would be wonderful to see DP’s bisexuality explored a little more in Deadpool 3, as LGBTQ+ rep is still something that Marvel is struggling to fully grasp even this deep into its lifespan. Unfortunately, we can’t really see Wolverine and Wade skipping through the fields (or the Mad Max-like desert, as the case may be) in the movie itself and this is just some fan-baiting marketing material. But, hey, hope — just like Logan’s lifespan — springs eternal.

Forget about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman coming together for their first MCU movie; the real question of Deadpool & Wolverine (previously known simply as Deadpool 3) is whether it’ll feature a certain acclaimed songwriter as Dazzler.

When you happen to be the biggest phenomenon in one industry, you tend to find that dipping your toes into other mediums is no longer much of a challenge. Besides, being the biggest mega-superstar on Earth tends to guarantee an endless string of rumors following you everywhere, with countless would-be analyzers overthinking your every move and reading hidden motives into them.

All of that is to say we’re not exactly surprised to learn one of the most persistent rumors involving Taylor Swift is her alleged involvement in Deadpool 3. In fact, as far as the Grammy Award-winning singer is concerned, this might actually be one of the milder gossips out there.

As always, we’re here to separate the wheat from the chaff, and the truth from the rumors. So, if you’re wondering if Taylor Swift is suddenly going to appear in Deadpool 3 with a musical number, we’ve got you covered.

Is Taylor Swift going to be in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are good friends with Taylor Swift, and the two can often be found in her company, whether it be at a Chiefs football game or even events like birthdays and Halloween. Besides, Taylor has already shown interest in the Regenerating Degenerate by borrowing Ryan’s actual Deadpool costume for a fun little Oct. 31 get-together a few years ago. You can obviously add two and two together and imagine where the initial scuttlebutt originated from, but to be perfectly honest, the idea doesn’t come completely out of the left field.

Rumors seem to suggest Taylor is going to portray Dazzler in Deadpool 3, and as comic book fans will tell you, the character is essentially a singer who turns sonic vibrations into light. Well, who better to portray Dazzler aka Alison Blaire (the similarities basically write themselves) than Taylor Swift, who not only looks like the character but has the appropriate background to bring her to life on the big screen? If there’s one comic book character that Taylor could portray, it would be Dazzler.

Now, just in time as the Deadpool & Wolverine promo campaign kicks into gear, there’s a lot of speculation and hearsay on the internet implying that Taylor will indeed cameo as Dazzler in the threequel. These rumors are so persistent that even Ryan Reynolds had to address them in a recent interview.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that one,” he said. “I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26.”

I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t seem like an outright denial. Will Taylor appear in Deadpool 3? We don’t know yet, but it seems even director Shawn Levy is playing coy according to this interview from October 2023.

“I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.”

So wait and see, we shall.

What happened to Aaron Stanford between ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ and ‘Deadpool 3?’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/what-happened-to-aaron-stanford-between-x-men-the-last-stand-and-deadpool-3/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/what-happened-to-aaron-stanford-between-x-men-the-last-stand-and-deadpool-3/#respond Mon, 12 Feb 2024 18:35:45 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1658721 Where have we seen him outside of the Marvel sphere?]]>

There’s plenty of exciting details in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer and fans are already speculating on things that could happen in the film. Some eagle-eyed viewers likely would have also noticed a certain X-Men villain making an appearance which has people all abuzz. In case you don’t know what we’re talking about, Aaron Stanford, the original actor who played Pyro and hasn’t been a part of the franchise since X-Men: The Last Stand had a cool little cameo.

Of course, that makes sense considering how all of the universes are colliding now that Disney owns the rights to every Marvel IP now. It shouldn’t come as a surprise when was see characters from the classic films pop up, but I’d be lying if I said seeing the older generation interact with the newer one doesn’t bring a smile to my face.

But what do we know about the actor, Aaron Stanford? Since it’s been 18 years since he last played the character, where has he been all this time? Whilst there have been X-Men movies since The Last Stand, only one of those films actually takes place after the events of the third movie — we’re talking about Days of Future Past, of course. The cast of that film was pretty packed, and we can assume that any mutant that doesn’t show up was probably dead at that point. So we know why he hasn’t returned as Pyro until now, but what else has he done?

What have we seen Aaron Stanford in?

Whilst you may not have seen him in any mainstream Hollywood blockbusters on the scale of the X-Men franchise, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy. He’s appeared in some pretty well known shows including Nikita, Fear The Walking Dead, Westworld, and Star-Trek: Picard. However, Stanford has also shown that he has what it takes to be a leading man with his most notable role being the SyFy channel’s TV adaptation of 12 Monkeys, in which he plays time traveler James Cole.

He’s been less prevalent on the big screen, but he’s still had a number of recognisable roles outside of his stint in the X-Men franchise. If you’re a horror fan then you might have seen him in the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes in which he plays Doug. Stanford has also starred in comparably smaller projects such as Holy Money, he also tends to pop up in random films too like Netflix’s Horse Girl. Gamers might also recognise his voice as he was the VA for Pvt. Polonsky in Call of Duty: World at War.

So obvioulsy a lot has happened to Aaron Stanford since his last Marvel appearance, it will be exciting to see him return to the big screen, and in a Deadpool movie nonetheless. Pyro’s return was just one of many things in the new trailer that has people excited, honestly this film’s release can’t come soon enough.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on the 26th of July.

The first official trailer for Deadpool 3 — fittingly titled Deadpool & Wolverine — finally released during the 2024 Super Bowl, and damn does this film look good. Deadpool fans were leery of any film following the titular character with Disney at its back, but it seems (for now, at least) that the House of Mouse kept its paws far from the project. The result is a trailer that appears to follow in perfect form with the first two Deadpool releases, offering up the same humor, action, and classic Deadpool violence we’ve come to expect from the franchise.

Ryan Reynolds may be putting out the first MCU winner in a good while when Deadpool & Wolverine arrives on the big screen, and he’s not shying away from hyping the film up. In the wake of the trailer’s big reveal, Reynolds set up shop over on Twitter X, where he happily teased fans with tiny hints about the upcoming release. All it took was an offhand mention of the official Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket to get fans in a tizzy, and ramp up excitement for the unique souvenir’s official unveiling.

Will there be a Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket?

To be fair, I must start this by noting that we don’t actually know for sure whether there will be an official Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket. Reynolds is known for his flawless grasp of viral fodder, and he has a tendency to carefully manipulate news to suit his moment. With that in mind, we must face the potential reality that no Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket is set to be, and Reynolds was just making an offhand joke.

The chances of an official popcorn bucket to accompany the film are good, however, when you consider a few factors. For one, Marvel has done exclusive popcorn buckets in the past. The bucket that accompanied Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was thoroughly popular among fans, and Disney is likewise familiar with how much interest a little bucket can stir up. Plus, we’re headed into a unique year as Marvel fans — 2024 will be the first year in quite some time to see only a single MCU release. Deadpool & Wolverine is slated to be the only MCU release of the entire year, which improves its chances of leaning into every moneymaking opportunity — and that includes a dedicated popcorn bucket.

Assuming the bigwigs at Disney and Marvel do decide to release a popcorn bucket alongside Deadpool & Wolverine, we should know more about its design and release schedule within a few months. The film isn’t slated to a release until late July, but by the time summer rolls around we should be well informed on what to expect.

When can we expect the Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket to arrive?

Reynolds didn’t reveal much in his brief popcorn bucket teaser, but the mere mention of a Deadpool-themed bucket was enough to rile fans into a frenzy. The tweet in which Reynolds made mention of the bucket was almost certainly a tongue-in-cheek reference to the Dune: Part 2 popcorn buckets, which have been broadly memed in the wake of their unveiling.

Chances of the Deadpool & Wolverine popcorn bucket prompting similar comparisons to giant worm mouths or — well, use your imagination — are slim, but where Deadpool is concerned nothing is certain. There’s still no real indication of what the buckets will look like upon release, but Reynolds did tease them alongside a charming image of a friendship necklace. Made up of two halves of a heart, one colored red and the other yellow, the teaser could also indicate what fans can expect from the bucket. Or, again, it could be nothing other than a funny reference toward those Dune buckets with absolutely nothing else behind it.

We’ll know for certain within a few months, as the official Deadpool & Wolverine release date approaches and Disney and Marvel make big, popcorn bucket-sized decisions.

When Deadpool last graced our screens, life was simpler. Disney had yet to spread its tendrils into all levels of entertainment, and we all wondered if Vanessa (Morena Maccarin) would get her due.

Luckily for Deadpool and X-Men fans alike, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is returning with none other than Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. The first Deadpool film under the Disney umbrella, the Merc With the Mouth will return with hopefully just as many quips and foul imagery as we love him for. This time featured in the trailer for the third film in the franchise, Deadpool & Wolverine.

1. TVA

There may have been much concern about what Deadpool would look like in the multiverse, but if the trailer is any indication, Deadpool & Wolverine is on the right track. Fans have waited six years for Wade to return to the big screen and are not pulling any punches. Immediately, it’s clear that Deadpool is connected with the MCU multiverse in the form of the TVA.

The Time Variance Authority debuted in live-action in Disney+’s Loki. After Loki (Tom Hiddleston) becomes a fugitive from time, the TVA takes him beyond space to punish him for his crimes. The two seasons of the series delve deep into multiverse territory by showing multiple versions of the God of Mischief, including an alternative reality of female Loki, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). The TVA captures Wade — or possibly recruits him — and brings him to the familiar hallways of the establishment. If anyone would have a bone to pick with Wade, it would be the TVA, and the trailer makes it perfectly clear this story is going to span several timelines.

2. Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox

Loki has already shown many famous TVA agents from the comics, including the endearing Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan). But the one we still have not seen is Mr. Paradox. Appearing in an MCU film, an actor with gravitas would have to be cast. Thankfully, Marvel hasn’t messed this one up.

Fresh from his Emmy win for Succession, Mr. Darcy himself, Matthew Macfadyen, appears in the trailer as one of the most well-known agents — authentic English accent and all. He brings Wade into the TVA, and is the bridge between Fox Deadpool and the Disney MCU. The MCU may not implement all the storylines from the comics, but Mcfadyen is a welcome addition to the cast.

3. Deadpool and the Avengers

The ensemble of superheroes that started it all, The Avengers have not been at the forefront for some time. Age of Ultron didn’t endear audiences to the franchise, and they effectively broke up during the Civil War era. No one has really been hankering to see Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) together, but there is a way to refresh the lineup. The trailer hints that this may come to be, as Wade walks through the TVA and sees a collection of TVs with clips of the former Avengers team. The trailer hints at this point after Wade collapses on the ground next to a copy of Secret Wars just as Wolverine approaches. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Wade would certainly be a refreshing addition to the Avengers, especially teaming up with Wolverine. The Canadian ball of fury was part of the Avengers in the comics, and everyone has been waiting to see these two reunite following the cursed film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Seeing these on a new Avengers team could redeem many mistakes in the past.

4. The Marvel Messiah

Anything that Wade says should be taken with a grain of salt, but even calling himself “Marvel Jesus” may have some truth to it. After all, this is the first MCU film that fully deals with the consequences of the multiverse. While Peter Parker (Tom Holland) certainly deals with the ramifications of his decisions in Spider-Man: No Way Home, he didn’t mess up so badly that the TVA had to intercede.

Deadpool & Wolverine will truly bridge the gap of not just other Marvel universes, but X-Men as well. And it has been undoubtedly everyone’s dream to finally see the X-Men acknowledged by the MCU without killing them off immediately.

5. The X-Men

We all knew that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine, but what of the rest of the X-Men? Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) first appears in his iconic yellow hover chair in Doctor Strange In the Mutierse of Madness, only to be killed off unceremoniously. Fans need the X-Men to matter again, and one of the most unexpected X-team members makes an appearance in the trailer.

The self-proclaimed worst mutant in the news, Pyro, appears briefly in the trailer, played by Aaron Stanford. Last seen in the maligned X-Men: The Last Stand, Pyro starts as a school friend of Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) before joining Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his crusade. The fire wielder didn’t have a lot of character development but had many intriguing aspects about him. A product of a broken home, there is no confusion as to why he turned against humans. The trilogy never gave the character a chance to explore these themes, and it’s unlikely that Deadpool will either. But for us nostalgic fans, it’s going to be a wild ride seeing him again.

6. Hinting At Villians

Deadpool and Wolverine probably won’t be the best of friends, but as two of the most beloved characters in Marvel canon, it’s safe to assume they will be on the same side. What everyone wants to know is who the main villain will be. Disney Plus hopefuls and aficionados may have held their breath when seeing some purplish smoke. Could this be Agatha (Kathryn Hahn), the maniacal witch who gave Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) a run for her money in WandaVision? Hahn will be reprising the role in her own Disney Plus series, so perhaps Deadpool is steering clear of that. If Agatha does appear, it may just be in a cameo capacity.

More likely, the big villain will be an iconic character connected to an even more iconic X-Men figure. Emma Corrin has been cast as a villain that many are speculating about. One shot in the trailer shows the back of a looming bald figure that very well could be Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier’s evil twin. If there was a storyline ridiculous enough to appear in Deadpool, it is that one. A mutant with a vendetta against Xavier, facing off with two regenerative fan-favorite characters is the movie we deserve.
