Movie fans don’t have much longer to wait until Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is released as highly anticipated standalone sequel to 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters worldwide on May 10.

Andy Serkis’ Caesar, the much revered and respected king of the apes, was the main ape in the 2017 film that kicked off this simian revival . At the end of War for the Planet of the Apes, Caesar succumbed to a crossbow arrow wound and died while fighting to protect his fellow primates.

However, Caesar left behind a young son, Cornelius, who was born in 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and appeared in its 2017 sequel. Maurice, a Bornean orangutan and Caesar’s most loyal confidant and closest friend promised that Cornelius would know who his father was. That’s left fans wondering if Cornelius would continue Caesar’s legacy in the new movie.

Will we see Cornelius in the upcoming film?

Unfortunately, Cornelius will not appear in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

The events of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will occur 300 years after the previous movie’s story, meaning Caesar’s son will be long dead.

That being said, in the absence of Caesar and Cornelius, their legacy will likely live on in the form of the movie’s main character. Owen Teague will play Noa, a young chimpanzee hunter who, it’s more than probable, is a descendant of the two characters.

The film’s villain, Kevin Durand’s Proximus Caesar, will pervert Caesar’s teachings, meaning Noa will have to do right by his ancestors and thwart his evil plans.

So, while Cornelius will almost certainly be mentioned, and viewers will surely learn more about the legacy he left behind during his life, he can’t appear, given the passing of three centuries since War for the Planet of the Apes.

The animated sports comedy franchise Cars is one of Pixar’s most popular vehicles (pun intended). Such was the success and popularity of the opening installment in 2006 that the franchise has spawned two more movies, a couple of television series, several short films, the Planes spin-off movie franchise, and a plethora of merchandise, including video games and toys.

A fourth entry has long been touted but is yet to happen. The third movie hit theaters worldwide in 2017 and just before its release, producer Kevin Reher told Cinema Blend not to rule another film out. When asked about the possibility of a fourth movie, he had this to say:

I don’t know, there might be. If there’s a good story to tell. I mean our heads kinda break after having gotten this one done, like oh my god what could you do the further adventures of? But like any sequel, from Toy Story 4 to Incredibles 2, as long as there’s a good story to tell it’s worth investing, we do love these characters, we love them as much as the public does.

Owen Wilson, the voice of Cars’ protagonist Lightning McQueen, has also spoken about the possibility of a fourth film. In 2017, he also sat down with Cinema Blend and said this to them:

Well, I kind of trust Pixar to kind of come up with the stories because they have such a great track record with doing these movies that work for kids and also that grown-ups and parents find entertaining. I would imagine that if they do do another one, it’ll be something pretty cool. But yeah maybe like Lightning McQueen in sort of like a thriller. Maybe that could be something.

Perhaps most importantly, however, is that director Brian Fee has explicitly stated that Cars 3 wasn’t the end for Lightning McQueen. In 2017, he said this to Entertainment Weekly:

Where the franchise goes from here, I have no idea what may be down the road, but I can tell you that for Lightning McQueen, as a character, I think by the end of the movie it’s safe to say that this is only the beginning for him.

Of course, that was seven years ago, so it might look like the franchise is dead in the water. But is that the case?

What’s the state of play with ‘Cars 4’ right now?

Cars 4 isn’t confirmed as things stand, but there’s every chance Pixar will revisit the franchise in the future, based on previous comments from influential people who’ve worked on it.

The animation studio’s current upcoming slate of movies takes us to 2026, with Inside Out 2 (2024), Elio (2025), and Toy Story 5 (2026) all confirmed. However, an untitled project is also scheduled for 2026, which could easily be a Cars sequel.

The three previous films have generated a whopping $1.4 billion worldwide, and the two Planes movies have earned a further $390 million, so there’s undoubtedly a market for more.

While no plot details have emerged and no cast information is available, Brian Fee will likely return to direct, and Owen Wilson won’t need much convincing to reprise his role as Lightning McQueen.

A more recent comment from a prominent cast member, Larry the Cable Guy, who played the beloved tow truck Mater, came in 2020. He believes a fourth movie could and should happen. Speaking to Popculture, he said this:

That was a fun thing to do. Obviously it’s one of the only Pixar movies. It’s got its own theme park. I just feel that they probably know that they’ve got this Disney thing up and going. You would think if you put in a billion-dollar theme park, you probably got to keep putting fuel in the tank. You would think. So I don’t know.

Whether or not a fourth Cars movie happens is open to debate. It’s not scheduled, but the signs are good, and it’s nice to see people who worked on the previous films keen on doing another. Fans of the franchise will have to be patient and wait to see what happens.

A teaser trailer for the upcoming animated sequel Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three recently hit the internet, and it’s got superhero fans talking.

The third and final movie in the epic trilogy, based on the DC Comics arc of the same name, will complete the story that saw the Anti-Monitor released into the DC Multiverse and destroying the different Earths that comprise it. The plot follows its heroic counterpart, the Monitor, as it attempts to recruit heroes from across the Multiverse to prevent its destruction.

The teaser shows Lex Luthor confirming he’s made a deal with the Anti-Monitor, suggesting Superman’s arch-nemesis could ultimately be responsible for the saga’s events.

The first two films, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part One and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Two, were released on January 9, 2024, and April 23, 2024, respectively, and fans won’t have to wait too long for the next installment.

When is Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three getting released?

While no precise release date has been confirmed, Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three is expected to be released in summar 2024.

Given the timescale between the first two movies (around three-and-a-half months), an estimate of early-mid-August seems realistic to capitalize on the usual summer buzz.

Who’s in the movie’s voice cast?

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three boasts a tremendous voice cast, with many actors reprising their roles from the previous two movies.

The cast includes Darren Criss (Superman and Earth-2 Superman), Kevin Conroy (Earth-12 Batman), Mark Hamill (Joker), Ato Essandoh (Mister Terrific and Anti-Monitor), Jonathan Adams (Monitor), Armen Taylor (Jay Garrick), Brett Dalton (Batlash and Captain Atom), Corey Stoll (Lex Luthor), Katee Sackhoff (Poison Ivy), Dean Winters (Captain Storm), Meg Donnelly (Supergirl), Jamie Gray Hyder (Hawkgirl), Brian Bloom (Adam Strange and Sidewinter), Ashly Burch (Nightshade and Queen Mera), Elysia Rotaru (Black Canary), Jason Spisak (Blue Lantern and Hayseed), and Cynthia Kaye McWilliams (Dr. Beth Chapel and Cheetah) — that’s an undeniably fine ensemble if ever there was one.

Significantly, Kevin Conroy’s role in the film will be a posthumous one, as he completed his voice work for it before his untimely death from intestinal cancer in 2022 at the age of just 66. It will also mark Mark Hamill’s final performance as the Joker in the DC Animated Universe. He announced his retirement from the iconic role following the passing of his close friend Conroy.

If the final movie in this brilliant trilogy is as good as its two predecessors — both of which received excellent reviews from fans and critics alike — it should be superb, and we can’t wait to see it.

The independent animated web series The Amazing Digital Circus has taken the internet by storm. Its ongoing plot concerns a group of seven people attempting to keep their sanity intact when they find themselves stranded inside a circus-themed virtual reality game inhabited by the wacky AI ringmaster Caine and his literal soap bubble assistant Bubble.

Created and directed by Gooseworx and produced by Glitch Productions, the show has released two episodes: “Pilot” and “Candy Carrier Chaos!” They hit the internet on Oct. 13, 2023, and May 3, 2024, respectively. Both have been overwhelmingly well-received, with the first earning an Annie Awards nomination for lead animator Kevin Temmer in the Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in an Animated Television / Broadcast Production category.

The release date for the third episode isn’t known, but it’s expected sometime in late 2024, and fans of the viral sensation series are eagerly awaiting its arrival.

In the meantime, you can keep yourself occupied by watching the first two episodes, which are just over 25 minutes long. But where can you find them?

Can you stream The Amazing Digital Circus on Netflix?

Sadly, the show isn’t on Netflix or any of the major streaming platforms, but it’s probably only a matter of time before one of them snaps it up.

However, it can be found on YouTube. The Amazing Digital Circus resides in a self-titled sub-category on Glitch Productions’ channel. There, in addition to the two existing episodes, you’ll find the trailer for the series and a three-minute short starring the show’s protagonists.

Seriously, check it out; it’s fantastic. The animation is exceptionally high quality, the colors are vibrant and give the aesthetic a wonderfully nostalgic feel, the characters are expressive and deep, the humor is surprisingly mature, and the timing of the jokes is executed to perfection.

Anne Hathaway has always been a stunningly beautiful woman, regardless of which stage of her career you refer to. Still, there’s no doubt she’s undergone some extreme physical transformations for her many on-screen roles.

2012 was a great example of such transformations, as she dropped the pounds and got into terrific shape to play Fantine in Tom Hooper’s epic Les Misérables and Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, in Christopher Nolan’s superhero romp The Dark Knight Rises.

Hathaway’s many extreme physical alterations over the years have occurred due to various practices. Her dedication to her craft, ensuring she turns up to work looking just right for any given role, has to be admired. Let’s see how she’s achieved her amazing condition for certain movie roles.

Extreme dieting

Dieting is the go-to method for losing unwanted weight for millions worldwide, but Hathaway is no stranger to going to extremes to ensure that happens when roles require it.

The actress has a slim frame, to begin with, so any roles that require her character to be excessively skinny demand insane dedication from her. That notion was never more applicable than when she had to play the tuberculosis-stricken Fantine in Les Mis.

Hathaway dropped 25 pounds for the role, losing 10 pounds with a detoxifying cleanse, eating only hummus and radishes. After that, she shed the remaining 15 pounds by eating only two thin pieces of oatmeal paste daily.

She described the process as “a little nuts” and “obsessive,” but when the aim was to look “near death” that level of madness was necessary. The process left her physically and emotionally deprived, and it took weeks until she felt like herself again.

Hathaway also has a generally healthy diet outside of her work, regardless of her roles.

A high protein, anti-inflammatory diet

Hathaway adhered rigidly to a high-protein, almost vegan, anti-inflammatory diet to prepare for her role as the super-agile Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

The star’s personal nutrition coach, Jackie Keller, who spoke to Shape about the subject, had complete control over what Hathaway ate and introduced tempeh and seitan to her dietary plan. The food Keller okayed for Hathaway’s menu included superfoods and healthy options such as vibrant red and orange vegetables that are high in antioxidants (like yams), dark leafy greens, sesame seeds, avocados, almonds, plain chocolate, egg whites, brown rice, gluten-free bread, turmeric, and ginger.

This enabled Hathaway to shed weight deemed superfluous and gain muscle fast when working out.

Dedication to the gym

It’ll surprise nobody that Hathaway’s weight loss and conditioning are largely due to her dedication to working out regularly.

In 2011, she told Harper’s Bazaar how she’d be in the gym five times a week to prepare for her role as Catwoman and that the aim was more than just looking good. She said, “I’ve always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job, I also have to be strong.”

Gym sessions also played a massive part in helping the actress to return to peak physical condition after giving birth. Speaking to the iconic eponymous host on The Ellen DeGeneres Show following her 2016 pregnancy, she shared, “Yeah, I work out with five-pound weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body.”

Hathaway was back in the gym fairly regularly just eight weeks after giving birth to her son, Jonathan.

My Hero Academia is a Japanese Manga series that spawned a media franchise, including a wildly popular anime television show.

The story of My Hero Academia takes place in a world where superpowers (known as “Quirks” by the characters there) are the norm. However, the story follows a boy called Izuku Midoriya, who was born powerless but still aspires to become a superhero regardless of that. He gets scouted by All Might, the world’s most famous hero, and his dreams are realized.

The series boasts a plethora of intriguing characters, including an American named Cathleen Bate, who goes by the superhero name Star and Stripe. Bate was saved by the above-mentioned All Might as a child, which inspired her to become a hero herself. She boasts one of the series’ most unique, potent, and complex superpowers. But what is that power?

Star and Stripe’s ‘New Order’ Quirk

Star and Stripe’s superpower, or “Quirk,” is called “New Order.” It enables her to alter the very fabric of reality by physically touching a chosen subject, saying its name, and declaring a “rule,” causing its physical properties to change. In layman’s terms, she could theoretically touch a block of ice, say the word “fire,” and transmute it into flames.

The power allows her to declare two rules at a time. She applies one of those rules to bestow herself with a superhero’s typical extreme physical strength at all times, which drastically limits what she can do regarding manipulating reality when utilizing the second rule. Thanks to this limitation, if the identity of her target is uncertain, her powers won’t work on them.

Star and Stripe has used the power to order a laser beam to be “holdable,” enabling her to pluck it out of the air before it struck her. She could also suffocate her opponents by stating “air,” which removed the air from the atmosphere in her vicinity.

One of the most creative applications of her Quirk occurred when Star and Stripe set the rule “New Order rebels against other Quirks.” This enabled her to manifest a giant version of herself within the mind of All For One, one of the most powerful villains and the over-arching antagonist in the My Hero Academia universe.

If you’re unfamiliar with My Hero Academia, it’s well worth checking out — fantastic characters like Star and Stripe are a testament to that fact.

In the opening episode of Netflix’s cultural phenomenon, Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd’s Donny Dunn reluctantly takes Jessica Gunning’s Martha Scott to a coffee shop for her birthday, where she says she wants the “Scotch broth.”

Given how she said it — and how downright peculiar she is — it’s clear Martha meant this as a sexual innuendo. However, that might not have been so obvious for viewers outside the United Kingdom. With that in mind, what was she referring to?

First of all, Scotch broth is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a British soup made from barley, various vegetables (including cabbage, leeks, and beans), and either lamb, mutton, or beef (it’s delicious, try it!). But given that’s not what Martha wanted, let’s elaborate.

When Martha says “Scotch broth,” she’s using the term as a slang alternative to semen.

Saturn is the second-largest planet in the Solar System after Jupiter and the sixth planet from the Sun. It is a gas giant best known for its enormous ring system, which makes it aesthetically distinguishable from the other seven planets.

Situated 1.5301 billion kilometers from Earth, it’s the farthest planet from us discovered by the unaided eye. Its existence has been known about since ancient times. The ancient Greeks knew it as “Φαίνων” (“Phainon”) — a sky god — and the Romans called it the “star of Saturn,” from which the planet takes its modern name.

10. It makes Earth look tiny

Saturn isn’t called a “giant” for no reason — it’s colossal. Its width is 120,500 kilometers, while Earth’s is a comparatively modest 12,742 km, making it over nine times wider than our home planet. Saturn has a volume 760 times greater than Earth’s and a mass more than 95 times greater.

9. It’s the only planet less dense than water

Saturn’s mass is comprised predominantly of hydrogen and helium — it’s certainly not a planet you could stand on. While a day on Earth is (officially just shy of) 24 hours long, a day on Saturn lasts around 10.7 hours. Jupiter is the only planet with a shorter day than Saturn, lasting four minutes less than ten hours.

7. It’s an essential astrological symbol

Whether or not you believe in astrology, Saturn plays a big part in it. Those who check their daily horoscopes will tell you it’s the planet of karma, life lessons, challenges, hardship, and restrictions. It’s viewed as one of the more difficult planets and educates us on pain, resilience, perseverance, and the benefits of hard work.

6. It has a hexagonal vortex at its north pole

At Saturn’s north pole, an almost perfectly symmetrical jet stream about 30,000 kilometers across (comparable to the size of Earth), with winds of about 500 kph, spins around a tight vortex. The eye of the vortex is around 50 times larger than a typical Earth hurricane, and it boasts wind speeds around double that of our strongest cyclones at its maximum.

5. Its rings are nothing more than debris

Saturn’s rings may look like majestic cosmic material, but they’re less magical than you may think. They’re composed of billions of pieces of ice, dust, and rocks — unremarkable space debris, essentially — formed by the breakup of a former moon of Saturn that was ripped apart around 160 million years ago. Some are as small as a grain of sand, while others are comparable in size to houses. They stick out from 6,630 to 120,700 kilometers outward from the planet’s equator, and their thickness averages around 20 meters.

4. Pioneer 11 was the first spacecraft to reach it

On September 1, 1979, NASA’s robotic space probe, Pioneer 11, did a flyby of Saturn, getting within 22,000 km of the surface. That made it the first spacecraft to reach the planet. It was launched on April 5, 1973, so it took over six years to arrive. The probe was also used to learn more about the asteroid belt and the environment around Jupiter.

3. It has almost 150 moons/satellites

While you’ve probably heard of the likes of Titan (the second-largest moon in the Solar System) and Phoebe, somewhat unbelievably, Saturn has 146 moons in its orbit. 63 have official names, and more are being discovered reasonably regularly. These numbers do not include the hundreds of moonlets in the planet’s rings.

2. We won’t see its rings in 2025

Rumors are circulating that Saturn’s rings are rapidly disappearing, with some suggesting they’ll be entirely gone by 2025. They aren’t true. While the rings are fading, they’re doing so incredibly slowly. However, in 2025, we won’t be able to see them from Earth for another reason. Due to a phenomenon caused by the planet’s rotation on an axis, the rings will be entirely invisible to us Earthlings.

1. Saturn is over 4.5 billion years old

Our Solar System’s second-largest planet formed at the same time as the rest of it, around 4.5 billion years ago. Gravitational forces pulled massive amounts of swirling gas and dust together to make up the gigantic spherical mass. Approximately half a billion years later, the planet settled into its current position in the outer region of the Solar System.

On May 10, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes — the long-awaited standalone sequel to 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes — hits theaters worldwide. The movie is set almost 300 years after its predecessor, meaning all the characters who appeared in it are long dead.

By this time the remaining humans on Earth have regressed into a feral state. At the same time, apes follow in Caesar’s footsteps, building civilizations and attempting to live peacefully in the oasis that Andy Serkis’ character created.

That is apart from one ape, Proximus Caesar, who goes against Caesar’s teachings and uses weapons forged from salvaged human technologies to enslave other primate clans. But precisely who is Proximus Caesar in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?

Proximus Caesar explained

Proximus Caesar, played via motion-capture by The Strain and X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Kevin Durand, is the primary antagonist of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

He’s a highly evolved bonobo — a great ape historically known as the pygmy chimpanzee, the dwarf chimpanzee, or the gracile chimpanzee — whose ruthless nature tarnishes Caesar’s legacy.

He leads the Coastal Ape Colony, a clan of apes based in the western coastal area of North America. Their sole purpose is to find lost human weapons and devices, which they can use to control other ape clans dictatorially.

Proximus Caesar wears a crown and has a menacing appearance. This is aided by the fact that despite being a descendant of evolved apes, his sclera — the outer layer of the eyes surrounding the irises — is dark-colored, a trait ordinary apes possess in the real world. His allies include Silva, an evolved gorilla who serves him, portrayed by Eka Darville.

Planet of the Apes fans will hope Proximus Caesar makes as big a mark on the cinematic landscape as Caesar himself did, and fortunately we don’t have to wait too long to find out.

Alexei Brovarnik rose to fame in 2015 when he appeared alongside his fiancé Loren Goldstone on the third season of the American reality television series 90 Day Fiancé. He’s an Israeli native who originally came from Ukraine.

The show’s premise is that it follows couples who have applied for or received a K-1 visa, which is available uniquely to foreign fiancés of United States citizens. Therefore, they have 90 days to get married.
