Rita Ora‘s look at the 2024 Met Gala was one of the most talked-about, but not for the best reasons.

The singer showed up arm-in-arm with husband Taika Waititi, both dressed in custom Marni. Ora wore an open silhouette gown with long strands of multi-colored beads draped over a skin-tone bodysuit, while the Kiwi director opted for a full-leather chocolate-colored pantsuit. This is their third year attending the high-profile event together.

While Ora gushed about the artistry that went into making the ensemble, which features beads that date back to the first and second centuries BC, collected from Europe and Northern Africa, the internet was, as expected, having a field day pretending they’re the fashion police for an evening. The eccentricity of Ora’s outfit became an easy target.

“Imagine being the people who made those beads. had no idea they were going to be covering Rita Ora’s arse did they. no. none at all [sic],” one X user commented. That does put things into perspective. Like the “You Only Love Me” musician told Vulture, those beads are indeed older than anyone on the planet, considering they’re about 2000 years old.

The outfit was carefully handmade by artisans at Marni, as shared by the brand on its official social media pages, but netizens couldn’t help but notice an inescapable connection with those bead curtains that all our grandmas used to have separating their kitchens from the back garden. Somehow, that’s a universal experience.

Or maybe she was referencing another pop icon.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, Ora revealed the antiquity of the beads was a testament to fashion’s ability to stand the test of time. The execution might not have been perfect, but the thought behind the gown was definitely meritorious. Regardless, we’re definitely inspired by her confidence and power.

We’re jumping back into the lake for season 3 of the Hallmark channel’s The Way Home after a revelatory few episodes at the end stretch of season 2.

The network announced that the time-traveling drama would be returning for a third installment before the second had even wrapped up in March 2023. Season two ended with the reveal that Colton, Kat’s dad who died back in season 1, is back, can time travel, and will most likely be returning for season 3, too. Plus a few other discoveries related to Kat’s past (or future?) and Elliot’s time-traveling abilities. A continuation is definitely needed and we’re already itching to see more.

When is The Way Home season 3 coming out?

There is no official release date for season 3 of The Way Home, but don’t expect any new episodes this year. The new batch is expected to follow the release pattern of the previous two and air early in the new year. We predict a release window of January or February 2025.

Fans should start getting excited for the upcoming season if Hallmark Media VP of Development Kelly Garrett’s words are to be believed. “While some questions will be answered by the end of this season, the Landrys’ journey is far from over and there’s much more to tell,” she teases in a statement,

Who stars in season 3 of The Way Home?

While there are no casting confirmations for The Way Home‘s third season, the conclusion of season 2 does indicate that all the main cast should come back for more time-hopping shenanigans next year. That includes the leading ladies, Chyler Leigh (Kat), Sadie Laflamme-Snow (Alice), and Andie MacDowell (Delilah), as well as Evan Williams as Elliot.

Jefferson Brown who plays Kat’s dad and Delilah’s husband Colton could be making a return in season 3 after the season 2 finale revealed there’s so much we still don’t know about his story. Remy Smith should also return as Colton and Delilah’s son, and Kat’s brother, Jacob, who had been stuck in the 18th century since he was a child and was finally brought back by his sister by the end of last season.

Vaughan Murrae’s mysterious character Casey Goodwin who was sporting Kat and Brady’s engagement ring around her neck in the finale should come back so viewers can finally figure out what her connection to the couple and, by extension, their daughter Alice, really is.

What is the plot of The Way Home season 3?

Although there are no teasers, trailers, or spoilers yet for season 3 of The Way Home, there’s plenty of clues in the season 2 finale that allow us to speculate about what we can expect from the new storylines ahead.

For one, we will definitely need Hallmark to answer our questions regarding Colton, Casey and their respective origins, because everything points to them not being from the present. We’re all still trying to understand just how the lake works, too. Now that Elliot can travel into the past, this means the ability to use the magic time portal isn’t reserved for the Landrys as we’d been made to believe up until now.

There’s also the issue of Kat’s love life as Jacob revealed her 18th century flame, Thomas, who she thought had been shot dead, had made it out alive after all. With Elliot still pining after her, too, who will she pick?

Did Blake Lively go to the 2024 Met Gala? https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/did-blake-lively-go-to-the-2024-met-gala/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/did-blake-lively-go-to-the-2024-met-gala/#respond Tue, 07 May 2024 17:20:21 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1691876 There was one question on everyone's minds on Monday evening. ]]>

Every year, we couch stylists like to sit in our pajamas and judge celebrities for their Met Gala looks, and every year there is one person that never lets us down — Blake Lively.

The actress, however, was missing from the luxurious cream-and-blue carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 6, and her absence was dearly felt. After a collection of unforgettable looks, Lively skipped the gala for a second year in a row, and the internet was distraught.

“The met gala can’t be over yet cause where’s blake lively [sic],” one X user protested as the night of fashion drew to a close with no sign of the Gossip Girl alum.

Fans were hoping the queen of the Met Gala would make a last-minute appearance to save the evening after a few disappointing looks from other attendees.

There’s no Met without Blake.

While we did miss Lively and her unmatchable taste and creativity at this year’s Met Gala, we can hardly blame her for skipping when she’s got her hands full with work and four children, including a baby who’s barely a year old.

The 36-year-old is making her big return to the silver screen this year after a four-year break with the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s viral novel It Ends with Us. She’ll be sharing the screen with Justin Baldoni. The long-anticipated sequel to the 2018 crime comedy A Simple Favor is also in production, which could be a big part of the reason why Lively had to miss a night of which she is usually the main star.

So, we might be experiencing severe Lively deficiency right now, but at least it won’t be for long. It Ends With Us premieres Aug. 9, 2024.

The atmosphere has been feeling quite frosty at ABC’s weather reporting department since late April after reports emerged that Rob Marciano had been fired from his senior meteorologist position.

Marciano joined ABC News in 2014 to report the weather on Good Morning America‘s weekend programs, taking over Ginger Zee who moved on to present the show during the week. He had also joined World News Tonight and ABC News’ digital livestreams. Before joining the network, Marciano worked for CNN and Entertainment Tonight.

According to several reports, the weatherman was fired after a heated argument with a producer. Per The Independent, this altercation was the last straw for the network after Marciano built a reputation as combative and difficult to work with.

Several outlets are reporting that Zee witnessed the incident and proceeded to communicate it to higher-ups who then decided to cut ties with the 55-year-old. According to The New York Post, the two weather reporters had been butting heads for a while.

Back in March 2023, Page Six reported that Marciano had been banned from Good Morning America‘s Times Squares Studios for nearly a year. The ban was a punishment for alleged “improper” behavior with a female colleague, an insider told the news outlet.

A source who worked closely with Marciano told People the reports of “anger management issues” felt like a “hit job.” Many different people told the magazine that the weatherman was a nice, welcoming, and supportive colleague.

Neither ABC News nor Marciano have issued any statements on the topic of the termination of his contract.

Netflix’s ‘Unfrosted’ ending, explained https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/netflixs-unfrosted-ending-explained/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/netflixs-unfrosted-ending-explained/#respond Mon, 06 May 2024 13:03:56 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1691337 Who doesn't love a good send-off dance-athon?]]>

Unfrosted begins with Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart inventor character, Bob Cabana, telling an enthusiastic kid about the story of the breakfast pastry’s invention.

This set-up ends up justifying a lot of the wacky decisions that the director makes throughout the rest of the film, presumably to cater to the kid’s wild imagination. That involves a lot of over-the-top plot points that don’t seem appropriate for Unfrosted‘s corporate setting, even if we’re talking cereal businesses.

It’s in that same young audience that the film will most likely find most of its fans, even if many of its jokes hinge on previous knowledge about 1960s pop culture, which is an odd combination.

How does Unfrosted end?

Unfrosted wraps up the same way it kicks off. After going on a wild Pop-Tart-filled ride with Seinfeld’s Bob Cabana, Melissa McCarthy’s Donna Stankowski (Stan), and company, the film takes us back to the diner where Cabana first meets the young fan of the breakfast pastry.

In a bookend ending, Cabana goes back to his role as the narrator of the story, telling his young listener and the audience by association the fates of everyone involved in the story. The Pop-Tart was a hit, disappearing from shelves in 60 seconds (in real life it sold out in two weeks), Hugh Grant’s cereal mascot Thurl Ravenscroft ended up in court for inciting a riot at Kellogg’s headquarters, Chef Boy Ardee and Sea-Monkey inventor Harold von Braunhut raised their sentient ravioli lab-creation together, fitness guru Jack LaLane and soft ice-cream precursor Tom Carvel opened neighboring stores, Amy Schumer’s Marjorie Post became a feminist icon and built Mar-a-Lago (actually true), Stan decided to become a hippie and invented granola, and Cabapana finally installed his dream sod on his front lawn.

The movie also makes jokes about the milk mafia that the Kellog’s gang asked JFK to dismantle being behind his 1963 assassination, and the UNIVAC computer turning into Willard from Apocalypse Now.

Before we actually go back to the diner, though, Unfrosted finds time to fit in one last gag. You see, in the film, the central wonder food was meant to be called Trat-Pop until famed news anchor Walter Cronkite accidentally called it Pop-Tart. In reality, however, the pastry was named after the popular art movement of the time, led by Andy Warhol. As a reference to that connection, Seinfeld appears as Bob Cabana on an episode of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson to talk about his smash hit product, only for the interview to be interrupted by Dan Levy as the late artist, who, outraged at the Kellog’s executive’s plagiarism, attempts to shoot him. Cabana is ultimately saved by the titanium foil packer of a Pop-Tart he had in his chest pocket.

After all that’s done, the movie treats its audience to an old-school dance number involving all the cast members to the sound of Meghan Trainor’s “Sweet Morning Heat,” made especially for the Seinfeld film.

Unfrosted is available to stream on Netflix. You can read We Got This Covered’s review here.

Jerry Seinfeld is so passionate about Pop-Tarts that he decided to make an entire movie about them and have it be his debut behind the camera as a director.

Unfrosted premiered on Netflix to a less-than-enthusiastic reception from both critics and audiences. It’s currently sporting a disappointing 41% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes critic meter, paired with a slightly better but equally middling 50% score from audiences.

Jam-packed with celebrity cameos and rapid-fire jokes and bits, Unfrosted has about as many connections to the real-life history of the brand it spotlights as 2023’s Barbie.

So how much of Unfrosted is actually true?

There is a lot going on in Seinfeld’s Unfrosted, but we’re sad to report the cereal business isn’t actually that eventful. There are no menacing milk and sugar mafias, lab-grown sentient ravioli, or janitor spies in this story, but there is still a fierce rivalry between its two protagonists.

Post and Kellog’s did race each other to launch a shelf-stable breakfast pastry but despite the accurately portrayed proximity between the companies’ two headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan, there was no espionage involved.

In the film, Amy Schumer’s Marjorie Post (a real person) steals valuable documents from Jerry Seinfeld’s Bob Cabana (not a real person, but we’ll get to that in a minute) that detail the first findings of Kellog’s fruit pastry experiments. Post then closes in on a working formula before Kellog’s catches on, which leads the latter to hire a team of experts to get back into the race.

In real life, Post was actually the pioneering brand behind the recipe, when Stan Reesman took inspiration from dog food to develop a dehydrated fruit jam filling that would have a longer shelf life. Excited about the idea, the company announced the product as Post’s Country Squares months before they had samples ready to go on sale. This gave Kellog’s enough time to call on Bill Post (a Keebler employee unrelated to the cereal juggernaut’s rival company) who then developed a similar product and called it the Pop-Tart.

The product wasn’t actually called Trat-Pop first (who would ever think that was a good name?!), and Walter Cronkite wasn’t involved in giving it its ultimate name. Instead, Kellog’s were inspired by the pop art movement of the time. The movie makes a reference to the connection by having Andy Warhol (played by Dan Levy) attempt to assassinate Seinfeld’s character as he screams “Your 15 minutes is up, Cabana. Only I can be derivative.” Of course, the bullet is stopped by a Pop-Tart he had in his chest pocket.

UNFROSTED. Hugh Grant as Thurl in Unfrosted. Cr. John P. Johnson/Netflix © 2024.

Plenty of characters in the film are based on real people, whether or not they borrowed their names. The fab five hired by Bob Cabana and Melissa McCarthy’s Stan were not at all involved with Pop-Tarts but did exist: Harold von Braunhut (Thomas Lennon) did market the Sea-Monkeys and was, in fact, involved with White Supremacist organizations; Jack LaLanne (James Marsden) was the fitness influencer of his time; Steve Schwinn (Jack McBrayer) isn’t real, but his bicycle company is; Chef Boy Ardee (Bobby Moynihan) is inspired by Ettore Boiardi, the creator of canned pasta brand Chef Boyardee; and Tom Carvel (Adrian Martinez) did invent soft ice-cream.

Then there’s Hugh Grant’s curious cereal box mascot voice actor character, Thurl Ravenscroft, who really existed. Seinfeld has said the idea of such a serious-looking actor doing voice-overs for Tony the Tiger was ripe with comedic possibilities, but apart from their appearance, Grant’s character and the real Ravenscroft don’t have much else in common. The real Tony the Tiger never unionized cereal box mascots or incited a riot.

“We wanted to keep some of the reality of what happened. This really did happen in Battle Creek, Mich., where Kellogg’s and Post were located, and they did compete to come up with this product, but the rest of our story is complete lunacy,” Seinfeld told Netflix.

‘The Idea Of You’: Is August Moon A Real Band? https://wegotthiscovered.com/books/the-idea-of-you-is-august-moon-a-real-band/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/books/the-idea-of-you-is-august-moon-a-real-band/#respond Fri, 03 May 2024 17:57:19 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1690723 Once a Mooner, always a Mooner.]]>

Prime Video’s new movie The Idea of You is for those of us who either used to stan a boy band or still do.

The movie stars Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine as the mother of a former boyband fan and the lead member of said band, who fall in love after a meet-cute at Coachella. Galitzine sang and danced on stage as Hayes Campbell, a character that has been rumored to be loosely based on Harry Styles.

He was accompanied by Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White, and Dakota Adan as the rest of the members of August Moon, but did the band at the center of The Idea of You already exist prior to the rom-com’s production?

Is The Idea of You‘s August Moon fictional or real?

Well, that depends on your definition of “real”… August Moon might have been created by The Idea of You book author Robinne Lee, and it may or may not have been based on fellow five-member pop boyband phenomenon One Direction, but with the making of the cinematic adaptation, the boys now have their music on platforms like YouTube and Spotify.

There’s an August Moon artist profile on Spotify with over 265 thousand monthly listeners and lyric videos on YouTube with more or less the same amount of views. The five actors all got in the studio to record and produce songs for the film’s soundtrack, which effectively makes them a real band.

They also have their own Instagram and TikTok pages (@augustmoon) where they break the fourth wall and make things even more confusing by stating that they’re “Proud to be a part of the release of The Idea of You Soundtrack,” which makes it sound like they were invited to participate as a previously established band. They weren’t, though.

It’s just a bit to promote the film and generate engagement, like when the characters of the Gossip Girl reboot created profiles on a bunch of social media platforms, including Letterboxd (I still follow Aki there, and look forward to his reviews, even though it’s probably an underpaid Max intern that was and still is writing them).

You’ve got hits like “Taste,” “Closer,” “Guard Down,” and the more intimistic “Dance Before We Walk,” which all feature your generic Jonas Brothers/One Direction groovy pop beats and melodies. Galatzine, who himself has written a few songs and published one called “Comfort” in 2022, went even further, recording a couple of non-August Moon songs for The Idea of You’s soundtrack, including one featuring British artist Anne-Marie which shares the film’s title.

The Idea of You is now streaming on Prime Video. You can read We Got This Covered’s review of the film here.

What Happened To Ivy On ‘The Bold and the Beautiful?’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/what-happened-to-ivy-on-the-bold-and-the-beautiful/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/what-happened-to-ivy-on-the-bold-and-the-beautiful/#respond Fri, 03 May 2024 16:34:48 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1690625 Seems like she never got over Liam!]]>

Ivy Forrester is back in L.A.!

The former jewelry designer is back from Australia and is already creating trouble for the characters of The Bold and the Beautiful. In the weeks following her return, Ivy, who has been played by Aussie actress Ashleigh Brewer since the character’s introduction in 2014, has managed to get in the way of Liam, Steffy, and Hope.

Why did Ivy leave The Bold and the Beautiful?

Ivy left B&B in 2018 after a series of heartbreaks and injuries left her needing a fresh start away from Los Angeles. Not only did she almost die by electrocution after Steffy pushed her into an exposed electric panel, and then again down a flight of stairs at the Forrester mansion, but she was also caught in other, proverbial wires after confessing her enduring feelings for Liam despite being in an on-and-off relationship with his brother Wyatt. Those relationships didn’t exactly leave her on the best of terms with Liam’s two baby mommas, Steffy and Hope.

Those feelings, it seems, never really went away as the daughter of John Forrester and niece of Eric Forrester revealed to Liam in Wednesday, May 1’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful that she still thinks about him and that he’s part of the reason she’s stopping over in L.A..

The two reminisced about their relationship as they shared a drink at Il Giardino, with Ivy gushing about what a wonderful man she thinks Liam is, and eventually kissing him as Steffy walked in. Seeing as Liam is currently single, the soap could be bringing Ivy back to finally give the two a chance at their happy ending, even if Hope seems to be considering rekindling things with her ex-husband.

According to Brewer, Ivy “spent the past few years in Sydney, developing her own jewelry and fashion label,” to great acclaim. Now, though, she’s ready to focus on her love life and begin to lay down roots, and it’s a happy coincidence there are a few eligible bachelors in California at the moment.

How Old Is Hayes Campbell In ‘The Idea Of You’? https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/how-old-is-hayes-campbell-in-the-idea-of-you/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/how-old-is-hayes-campbell-in-the-idea-of-you/#respond Fri, 03 May 2024 16:10:22 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1690677 The age gap between Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway's characters in the film has attracted backlash. ]]>

A lot of the buzz around The Idea of You has been connected to its apparent loose relation to Harry Styles and his own love life.

In the film, Nicholas Galitzine plays Hayes Campbell, the lead in a teen sensation boy band called August Moon, who enters into a relationship with an older woman, a gallery owner played by Anne Hathaway. The book that the film adapts, a 2017 bestseller written by Robinne Lee, had been rumored to be essentially One Direction fanfiction with fictional names.

Hathaway’s character, Sòlene, meets Hayes at Coachella when she mistakes his trailer for the VIP bathroom and the two instantly hit it off. The older woman tries to resist her attraction to the younger pop star, but the two eventually begin a romantic relationship as she joins him on his August Moon tour around Europe.

Did they change Hayes’s age in The Idea of You?

Hayes is actually 20 years old in the book, but in the Michael Showalter-directed film the character was aged up to be 24. Sòlene, on the other hand, is 40 years old. Although the age gap is a central plot point in the film, as it deals with an older woman reconnecting with herself and her desires, the change indicates that executives at Amazon MGM Studios probably thought 20 was a little too young for comfort.

“I think if he’s 20 years old and she’s 40, again, it just adds a layer of sort of impropriety or whatever that is great, but just not for this story, for this tone that we were going for,” director Showalter told IndieWire.

Fans of Styles and One Direction have also criticized Lee’s book and its cinematic adaptation for romanticizing a controversial past relationship between the singer and X Factor host Caroline Flack. The two dated between 2011 and 2012 when Styles was 17, and Flack was 31.

Despite the 16-year-dol age gap between Galitzine and Hathaway’s characters, The Idea of You doesn’t cross any weird limits in the two’s relationship. Only after Hayes insists, does Sòlene cave into her attraction for him, and the two often discuss their feelings and boundaries. To each their own, of course, but, in the end, lose connections to Harry Styles or otherwise, The Idea of You is entirely fiction — and also, who wouldn’t want to date Anne Hathaway? Like, seriously.

The film is currently streaming on Prime Video. Read We Got This Covered’s 3-and-a-half-star review here.

Jerry Seinfeld is one of America’s most famous and successful comics. He’s now also a director after stepping into the role for the first time for Netflix’s Unfrosted.

The movie was born out of Pop-Tart jokes from Seinfeld’s 2020 Netflix stand-up special, 23 Hours to Kill, motivated by Seinfeld’s fascination with the need to create such an oddly specific kind of product. In the joke, Seinfeld calls the pastry both a life-changing food for his childhood self, and something with the nutritional value of a cardboard box. This extended setup about the nutritional value of big-brand breakfast cereal frames some of the most successful gags in Unfrosted — a movie that is otherwise as unsubstantial as the food that inspired it.

Unfrosted fictionalizes the story of the creation of the Pop-Tart as a kind of arms race between Kelloggs and Post, as the industrialized-food giants attempt to nail down the perfect recipe for a shelf-stable, easily-preparable breakfast pastry that they believe will solve all their companies’ problems. The milk mafia led by Christian Slater and Peter Dinklage, the sugar mafia led by Felix Solis, Soviet Union First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev (played by Dean Norris), a couple of dumpster diving rascals (newcomers Eleanor Sweeney and Bailey Sheetz), President John F. Kennedy (a hilarious Bill Burr), unionized cereal box mascots led by Hugh Grant’s Thurl Ravenscroft AKA Tony the Tiger, and a ravioli/sea monkey crossover lab abomination all get in the way of the companies’ success. If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it is.

Seinfeld plays Bob Cabana, Kelloggs’ star executive who teams up with Melissa McCarthy’s Donna Stankowski (for some reason intentionally referred to by the androgynous name form of “Stan” before she’s introduced) to come up with the product that will get Kelloggs comfortably leading the race against their rival concern, led by Amy Schumer’s Marjorie Post. The real creator of the Pop-Tart, William Post, died in February of this year, aged 96. The film then evolves in so many different directions, enlisting so many different distractingly famous faces for the job, that there’s hardly one that’s sufficiently fleshed out to create any significant investment from the viewer.

James Marsden, Thomas Lennon, Bobby Moynihan, Adrian Martinez, and Jack McBrayer play a team of bozo experts enlisted by Cabana and Stan to come up with the perfect fruit pastry recipe, all inspired by real-life American businessmen who introduced all kinds of products in the food industry in the 1960s.

The movie’s connections to the facts are thin. Instead, Seinfeld satirizes the cereal industry, and, in Unfrosted‘s best moments, manages to both criticize it and celebrate it at once. The quality of the products and just how something that processed, fake, and loaded up on sugar can find its way to shelves is a recurring joke that lands every time. There are quite a few jabs at the advertising business, too, like when they expose Sea Monkeys for essentially being dressed-up brine shrimp eggs, and when a marketing pitch uses sex and women to sell something completely unrelated to either. Then there’s a moment when all the actors behind the different cereal brands’ mascots decide to protest their working conditions which, like everything else in the film, is ridiculed and played for laughs, but, if one really squints, it could almost be read as a commentary on the latest Hollywood strikes.

It’s not surprising there is a lot of great material in the film, seeing that comedy, of course, is Seinfeld’s strongest suit. However, a succession of really good jokes doesn’t make a good movie, even if it contributes to its “watchability.” Seinfeld mines every little crevice of a topic for laughs, which leaves little space for breathing room or moments of reflection, particularly when the joke shoehorns unrelated, hard-to-combine subjects into the same punch line.

The heavily referential aspect of certain jokes also assumes that the viewer will enter the film heavy-laden with American pop culture knowledge, encompassing everything from JFK and Marilyn Monroe, to knowing who Jack LaLanne is. Seeing as Pop-Tarts aren’t even commonly found in retail shops around the rest of the world, it’s safe to say Unfrosted will not land as well with international audiences as it will domestically, which is rarely Netflix’s modus operandi.

To add to that, most of its non-American characters are familiar, tired clichés. You’ve got a menacing Puerto Rican cartel leader, a heavy Italian pasta chef with a thick accent, a racist German, and a posh British guy played by the ultimate posh British actor (Hugh Grant, in an uncharacteristically unabashed performance). In all the wrong ways, Unfrosted feels like it comes straight out of the ‘90s.

Then there’s the issue of the film’s pacing and style. Like the product it centers on, Unfrosted feels markedly catered to a younger audience or, at least, a very easily bored one. There’s so much happening on screen at any given time, as it is continuously propelled by frenetic editing, pace, and the most maximalist performances you can think of from its cast. In its busier moments, the movie could make Disney Channel feel like Tarkovsky.

There’s also a lack of stylistic coherence. Although Unfrosted tries to capture the aesthetics and quirks of the 1960s, visually it couldn’t be more 2024. Seinfeld sprinkles in occasional montages of archive footage, presumably in order to provide background information about the cultural significance of a particular scene to people who might not be as versed in the subject, but there’s hardly ever any other attempt to bring the film closer to the period it is set in — even the costume design is more akin to a costume of what someone would assume someone in the ‘60s dresses like.

After 2023’s Barbie, Unfrosted is this year’s feature-length advert: Family-friendly, overstuffed, and unoriginal, a comedy film whose weakness of plot is masked by myriad celebrity cameos —including 15 different stand-up comics — characters all but doing backflips on screen, and a lot of product placement. Then again, in the New York Times video linked above, where Seinfeld ironically details the process behind his 2020 comedy special Pop-Tart joke, the actor-turned-director says that “To waste that much time in something this stupid, that felt good to me.” And that explains a lot about Unfrosted.

The best memes of Drew Barrymore interviewing her guests and having no idea what personal space is https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/the-best-memes-of-drew-barrymore-interviewing-her-guests-and-having-no-idea-what-personal-space-is/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/the-best-memes-of-drew-barrymore-interviewing-her-guests-and-having-no-idea-what-personal-space-is/#respond Tue, 30 Apr 2024 20:34:49 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1689460 It's her brand!]]>

The Drew Barrymore Show is unlike any other talk show on television right now.

The actress has developed her own peculiar style of interviewing that can sometimes be more akin to a therapy session, or one of those long conversations with your best friend that go on for hours. She redefined the concept of getting up close and personal with guests, holding their hands, hugging them, sitting on the floor with them, kneeling in front of them, and even holding them in her lap.

Some people love it, arguing that she makes her guests feel listened to and comfortable, while others say the over-the-top affection might have the exact opposite effect. By now, though, the whole approach has become all that people think of when they think about the Drew Barrymore Show… Well, that and scabbing.

Listen, some of us just value our personal space, ok?

Not even the audience members are safe.

Do you know who else is totally oblivious about how much space two human beings should hold between them in public? Art and Patrick from Challengers — if you know, you know.

OK, maybe it gets a little awkward on that Drew Barrymore Show couch sometimes, but the tactic does work more often than not, resulting in some of daytime TV’s most laid-back and genuine moments, like when Jordan Fisher visited the set, or when Justin Long, who dated the actress in the aughts, said he would always love her.

Like, seriously, she has some kind of superpower.

And if you’re on the “I love my personal space” team, someone has already come up with a way for you to avoid any uncomfortable interactions with the touchy-feely talk show host.

For a more fabulous option, we present:

Frankly, the only thing I miss about the pandemic is how strangers were forced to stand well away from me. We should bring that back. Enforce it by law, even. But Drew is just doing her job, and if she feels that this level of intimacy is what she needs to bring the best out of her interviewees, there’s no harm in that — just as long as she’s making sure everyone involved is comfortable with it.

Will there be ‘Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch’ season 4? https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/will-there-be-mystery-at-blind-frog-ranch-season-4/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/will-there-be-mystery-at-blind-frog-ranch-season-4/#respond Tue, 30 Apr 2024 17:33:17 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1689305 We need to know what's in those caves!]]>

Treasure-hunting fans are desperate to know what is inside the caves of Duane Ollinger’s Utah Blind Frog Ranch.

Discovery’s Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch has been mystifying audiences for three seasons now as the Ollinger family digs around for gold deposits they are convinced have been hidden around the 160-acre property. The show tests all hypotheses, from possible ancient Aztec treasures to alien activity in an area of the country that’s ripe with all kinds of legends and myths.

Season three had quite a sudden ending, confusing fans about whether episode 8 really was the last we’d see of the Ollingers for now. The episode ended with the crew finally finding an entrance to the estate’s cavern system, which they have been trying to enter since the start of Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch.

Ryan Skinner, a paranormal, supernatural, and unexplained mysteries researcher who acts as a consultant to the crew’s excursions on the show, promised a ninth episode in a video published after episode six aired on Discovery, but it seemingly got cut from the programming. The family then explained on social media that the Warner Bros. Discovery merger and the “extremely brutal” 2023 winter at the Uintah mountains caused the show to start shooting later than usual.

Is season 4 of Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch happening?

Although Discovery has not officially announced a fourth season of the treasure-hunting show, the buzz around its cast shows a lot of promise.

Not only has Skinner spoken about possible tech improvements for the new season, but Duane’s son Chad has also shared an auspicious photo on his Instagram profile, which suggests he’s filming again. What for remains unclear, but everything points towards Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch season 4.

In the same Facebook post the ranch’s management used to justify season 3’s anti-climatic ending, it was noted that “the BFR story is not over,” and that fans should keep an eye on Discovery for future announcements.

Meanwhile, you can rewatch or catch up with all three seasons of Mystery At Blind Frog Ranch on Max. Happy scavenging!
